I totally agree with Antonio Sabato Jr, Johnny Depp, Jim Morrison (before he got fat and crusty) and whoever that Polo sport guy was and the Sam guy above.
I get told I am weird for this one, But, I just love me some Dave Navarro (Janes Addiction/Red Hot Chili Peppers). He is #1 of my top Ten.

Sounds like you are having a great time. I wish the people in my hall were as cool and laid back. I say more power to you. I don't think everything the JW's teach is bad. Alot of it is good advice, however there is some very bad advice as well. I say if you can tell the difference and can seperate the two and still be in the org, then more power to you. Enjoy yourself and have fun. As long as you are HAPPY, that is all that matters.

"Besides, We Give Gifts Throughout the Year!"
by Swan inthe jws always give a lengthly explanation as to why they don't celebrate christmas or birthdays, and then always add the final statement "besides, we give gifts throughout the year!".
yeah, right!
okay, lets get an unofficial count of all the people who actually did get gifts on other days of the year.

i got a new ten speed one year on my parents anniversary. Shortly after I turned 13 my mother gave me a birthstone ring. Since I was born in April, my birthstone was a diamond, so that was cool, it was extremely small, but hey it was still a diamond. When my grandmother died, my mother took Grandma's pins she had earned from years of service with a company, had them melted down and formed into a necklace with several rubies, pearls and 2 diamonds from the pins. That was quite the surprize.
I know Christmas sucked for us JW kids, but it was nice to be surprized. My hubby who grew up Baptist, had no idea what it was like to be surprized with a gift, because his parents had never SURPRIZED him with anything. Being suprized is a cool feeling. I am glad I got to expereince that even if I didn't get to celebrate Christmas or my Birthday. I hope to give my kids, if I ever have any, surprize gifts so they will know the feeling.

Yes Elsewhere, they were serious. It was crazy really. You should have heard the magazine they used in the skit. It was on farming. So the sister on the "phone" said "We were talking to people today about farming" I just about died laughing. It took all composure I could muster not to.

both are of the same gender.
can there be reproof, elders meetings, loss of privledges?

I have never know that to occur, but I would think they could be pubically reproved or worse for actively seeking "bad associaton".

Elders - Law Enforcers or Loving
by Jim Dee inthey don't care
they enforce the rules without compassion, dogma without dignity and punish with glee - it keeps the others in line.
they have total control without guideline or being accountable to anyone.

I think there are both. I know some elders who are extremely loving and caring, but then there are the others who are the enforcers. These enforcers, usually do find a way to make the other elders miserable or find some fault in the loving elders so they can step them down. It is sad.
