Burial or Cremation?
by Francois ini got the idea for this thread from one jessika posted and which contained a response from dede.. which form of final resting place do you prefer and why?
personally, i want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered at a particular place on the beach on deserted st. catherine's island, a barrier island on the georgia coast.
my children could get there by boat (the only way) and visit my spirit there - even though i know my spirit won't be there, i believe that somehow i will know they're there and what they're saying.. being buried in a box six feet under to lie in the same position througout all eternity doesn't appeal to me in the least.

Yep, mormons and the scientologiests. In highschool I got X credit for investigating tactics of "cults" in my sociology class. (JWs not included). I even investigated the true meaning of the burning of the cross. The mormons in the end banned me from the church for all eterinity (Long story) And as for the Scientlogists I went to a Expo they put on in LA and left my real name. I got letters from them for over 10 years after that. In the end I said then and still say now, whatever it is that makes people blindly follow social movements I seem to be immune.

Realist, Excellent philosophical question. "Free will and determinism are like a game of cards. The hand that it dealt you represents determinism. The way you play your hand represents free will." Jayson

Daughter counselled on dating a wordly guy
by minimus inmy daughter recieved this email from one of her witness "friends".
she is counseling my daughter (indirectly) about her choice to date a "worldly" guy.. hey, so, we had a talk recently that was about love & respect in your marriage.
the brother brought out that this was more for us witnesses rather than worldly people, because it seems that even in the truth now marriage has lost it's correct place.

Dear, "Friend,"
I recieved your letter. I have decided to follow my heart. Perhaps, we should just leave it to Jehovah.
May you one day find peace and happiness,
Minimus's Daughter

Minimus I think it is a case of jealousy. I'm sure that she is genuine in her concern that if there are outside influences then it is easier for someone to leave. (There is life out there.)
I really do believe that JW's are pathologicaly jealous. It would be an interesting study to do. To see if the physical and mental abuse that occurs is really a fear of loosing "contol."
