  that's true...there are pluses and minuses when it comes to those threads. Often they start out with the best intentions only to wind up hurting someone's feelings. That was never the intent.

  There's a lot of "out of sight/out of mind" when it comes to these threads. That's why they become popularity threads because those active on the board are the names people remember and therefore, get listed.

  Hell, I was going to post a picture of myself on the "female" thread as a joke...and I'll be a sunofagun if I didn't get a mention. Two things happened. first, I was shocked. secondly, I was very touched. It really helped my day.
