I'm so sorry Truthseeker. I can relate to what your going through! I was a JW for twenty-five years. Five years ago I had enough of their "love", walked out of the Kingdom Hall and never went back(although I do go to the assemblies to keep my JW husband company). I was always considered "weak" because I was too shy and quiet, I didn't comment much and because of my temperament, I had a terrible time going out in service. I was not born into the 'truth"so before we were Baptized we got "love bombed". After I was baptized, because I couldn't perform up to their standards, I was never really considered good association, so the "love" stopped and I was pretty much ignored. My daughter had some trouble in her teen years and they began to treat her that way....well that was what opened up my eyes to their ways. My poor hubby, he's still a JW, but very weak, he's treated like a "non person". Hardly anyone talks to him, it breaks my heart! A year ago, we drove a "friend" to the assembly because she didn't have a way to get there(she must have been desperate if she had to get a ride with us LOL). My hubby dropped us both off in front of the assembly hall, she couldn't get out of the car and away from me fast enough......she didn't want to be seen with me

Shunned by the congregation for not performing
by truthseeker inas many of you know, i am a witness who still attends for the sake of my wife.
my meeting attendance has dropped to about 50% and i make maybe 1 hour a month in field service, although i report more than this to keep the elder's off my back.. after several months of this, the result has been noticeable.. those who used to be friendly and greet me no longer do so.
some even avoid me.

So far so good, I think they have forgotten about me! I left four years ago, they came by to visit few a times right after I left, but since then I've had no visits! Two years ago an Elder came by to visit my hubby (he's an active JW), he invited him to the Memorial......I guess that Elder doesn't really know his sheep!! The Elder saw me and he didn't say a word to me......I just gave him a pleasant smile!

Tell us about your avitar.
by carefully faded ini loved the recent topic asking what each of our screen names means.
great question as i have always wondered about quite a few of our screen names.
as i was reading the responses, i looked at holey cheeses - king of the juice's avitar and thought about how i have been wondering for the past three years, what the hell that is a picture of.

This is a picture of me, really I'm a little beagle :-)
OK, I'm not a beagle. This is a picture of Porthos, the little beagle from Star Trek Enterprise. I think he is the cutest little dog, and I'm a huge Star Trek fan.

Do You Really Think The wt Feel The Outrage Felt On This Site?
by Celtic in.
i don't think they get it yet.
-
Hapgood
Celtic, I've wondered the same thing. It's been said that they monitor this site. I don't know how they read some of the things that are posted here and not do something about their disgusting policies that wreck peoples lives. They have to be very hard hearted, many times I come here and I'm in tears, how can they not be moved. I believe that they will answer to God one day in a big way for being so presumptuous in their claim that they speak for God. That's why I left, when I learned what they are, my conscience would not let me have any part in that evil organization (yes, I believe it's evil).

I told my hubby that I wasn't going to any more meetings over 2 years ago. It hurt him real bad, it came as a total shock to him, when he talked to the elders about my situation, he was in tears. Boy, was that hard for me to take, it really tore me up that I hurt him so bad, but there was no way that I could continue in good conscience to be a JW. I told him what I had learned, but he couldn't accept it. We don't talk about anything JW related now, I just keep my mouth shut, it's better that way.

Did you wear your badge outside the convention, so as to "give a witness?"
by truthseeker inthis year at the dc, we were expressly told to wear our badges at all times, even when going to a restaurant or some place else, so we could "give a witness.".
did any of you hear follow through with this arrangement?
did you have one of those "fantastic" experiences, when someone commented on your badge?.
-
Hapgood
I never wore a badge during the convention, didn't want to put any holes in my fine dresses :-) and I didn't want to scratch my little one with the badge when I would hold her. If I did "wear" a badge I would attach it to my purse. Never wore it outside of the convention either.

Are you black or white ? ( just asking)
by vitty inplease dont take offence but ive just realised something maybe its been touched on before,.but when i was reading the thread on bil cosby i read the one off obviously secret.
now as i am a white person i assumed he was white until he stated he was black.
so when i thought about it, i imagine everyone on this site is white, does everyone who is black imagine everyone else is black, and anyone oriental imagine everyone else is oriental.

My dad was Irish, Black Irish. Meaning, he had black hair, dark eyes and olive complexion, he was very handsome. My Mom is of English decent, fair complexion. I take after my Dad, I'm dark except for my eyes, my sister is blond and fair, my brother has red hair and fair, with freckles.

Inactive and most likely marked. When I run into a JW I always go up and say hello to them, with a big smile on my face, some of them get this scared look on their face. Don't know if it's my imagination but it happens alot.
