elswhere recently started a thread about shunning and i noted that at least ninety per cent of the posters to the thread were from the u.s.of a. and canada and they had had some bad experiences with the problem.. why should this be significant ?.

well it seems to me that the shunning problem in america is far worse than here in the u.k. i know of several persons who have been dissed but i am not aware that shunning is a serious issue for them.

can anyone tell me if shunning causes less of a problem here in the u.k. than it does other places in the world, and if so why?.

Americans are the biggest sheep on the planet- though few would admit it people from north america are more easily duped than any other country in general. Look at what our politicians are able to sell the the U.S. sheep- it's the same within the WT. Easier to get the good old americans to go with the program. And we thought we were so smart here. Interesting that education, money and material things do not equate to good old common sense.

Do all witnesses shun you?

there are always a few tender hearted, who know that shunning is stupid and keep on talking to df'd people, when no one is looking.

are there still a few who keep on talking to you, even if you are df'd?

i'm sure that elders wouldn't shun you if you talk to them, so why do others have to shun you?

Still have a older "annointed" brother that I very seldom run across but when I do he speaks to me at length about anything other than jw stuff- and his daughter-in-law recently bought some things from me- no problem with her doing biz with an apostate. Other than that only my mom whom I speak with just about every day---

Boosting Attendance or Hunting Apostates?

recently, and reportedly in coming months, elders will be contacting inactive members.. it has been suggensted that their main objective is to hunt for apostates.. i'm inclined to think that "finding apostates" is just a side effect of their main objective, which is to boost meeting attendance.. any thoughts?

I think that it is a purging process. If you'll come back thats great- dont want to, then they can deal with you- no loose ends.

No booze- no problem. I agree the size of the function makes a dif. Smaller group of people you know well and the booze flows better- larger function with a lot of people that you don't know that well and things can take unexpected turns. I like to drink but I dont like obnoxious drunks-

I also was not mentioned by name except like you reborn we both were smart enough to get out of the WT. And I have read enough of your post to know that you are smart enough to not get this sensitive about you name not being mentioned....

for those of you trying to sneak out the back door without being dfd or dad...and plan to do holidays, please remember that the jws are tightening their grip on detractors and those who think they can leave without consequences and they will come to your door christmas morning to try to catch you!

i have heard of this countless times since leaving in jan 97. keep everything that might incriminate you away from the front door!!
