In Canada, that is one thing - illegal. You are not allowed to hassle anyone on the telephone if they tell you not to call again. They still wouldn't listen, though. They will get their message across even if it is illegal. "This good news must be preached". Where in the bible does it say, "Once a year to people who don't want to talk to you.... once a month if they do..."

KM Question Box May 2003
by expatbrit inthe may 2003 question box in the km has a little piece which demonstrates how the wt feels about the wishes of non-jw's.. when witnessing by telephone, what should we do if a person requests that jehovah's witnesses not call again?.
the wishes of the person should be respected.
a dated note with the name of the person should be placed in the territory envelope so that publishers will avoid calling that number in the future.

What's The Worst Job You've Ever Had?
by SYN inso what's the worst job you've ever had?.
book-servant at the kingdom hall would be pretty bad, but ministerial lawn servant is probably worse.. outside the society, probably my worst job was waitering.
i have a very short short-term memory, although this is more than made up for by my ltm, which means i made a really sh*te waiter, let me tell you.

SYN,
Love your avatar, by the way -
I worked at Mcdonalds when I was 16. That says it all.
I also worked for a hotel - Front Office Manager - which meant that I was in charge of everything that went wrong, and got reemed out for it. I quit that one, too.

I couldn't bring myself to throw them away, so my roomate and I went through every book CAREFULLY and made sure that there was no markings on it that could be traced to me... then I dropped 3 boxes off at the KH when nobody was there. I only kept my bible.

What kind of JW would it take to defend his/her faith amongst apostates?
by be wise inim thinking only a brain-dead one!
maybe the whipper snapper shows off to his/her jw friends, thinking they're so strong and superior because it doesnt affect their faith in god.
(only a jw this small minded would even bother and would fail to see even some of the truth in what x-jws say.

Complete nincompoops, some of them, who try to "save" apostates / df'd people. Obviously these persons are not all right in the head - they are self-righteous loners who just want to stir up poop. They are psychotic individuals whom cannot be reasoned with.
Others lurk, because they have questions, get drawn into some debates..... can't stop.
Some lurk, because their faith is weak, and are tired of it. They try to hold on to their faith, and even defend it tooth and nail for a time.... until they find the other side of the coin.
All types. Mostly the latter, some of the first.

Saying Amen Out Loud
by Sunspot inafter having been accustomed to three decades of prayers at the kingdom hall, where "amen" was said out loud at the end; i then attended a large church funeral for a relative---the pastor said a prayer---and *i* said "amen" out loud.
much to my embarrassment, out of over a hundred or so people there, i was the only one that did..............[color me red].
are jws the only ones who do this?.

No. Lots say it.
When I was a JW, I never said it.
