Anointed Class? What Anointed Class?
by never_a_jw inplease, take the time to read this:.
the wts teaches that only the anointed 144,000 seen in revelation 7 will enter heaven (the "anointed class"), while the remainder that are not annihilated (the "other sheep") will live forever on earth in paradise.
however, the bible poses some irreconcilable difficulties with this idea.

Why is the NWT the ONLY bible that translates this word as spirit Of the four bibles I have on hand and 27 on CD. ROM none translates as spirit --H7306 ruach roo'-akh Strongs; A primitive root; properly to blow, that is to breath; only (literally) to smell or (by implication perceive (figuratively to anticipate, enjoy):-accept, smell, X touch, make of quick understanding.
ellderwho, here is the Basic English Bible rendering, the NWT is not the only Bible:
Ec 3:19 Because the fate of the sons of men and the fate of the beasts is the same. As is the death of one so is the death of the other, and all have one spirit. Man is not higher than the beasts; because all is to no purpose.
ellderwho, the same word is rendered breath or spirit:
xwr Ruwach (roo'-akh); Noun Feminine, Strong #: 7307
wind, breath, mind, spirit- breath
- wind
- of heaven
- quarter (of wind), side
- breath of air
- air, gas
- vain, empty thing
- spirit (as that which breathes quickly in animation or agitation)
- spirit, animation, vivacity, vigour
- courage
- temper, anger
- impatience, patience
- spirit, disposition (as troubled, bitter, discontented)
- disposition (of various kinds), unaccountable or uncontrollable impulse
- prophetic spirit
- spirit (of the living, breathing being in man and animals)
- as gift, preserved by God, God's spirit, departing at death, disembodied being
- spirit (as seat of emotion)
- desire
- sorrow, trouble
- spirit
- as seat or organ of mental acts
- rarely of the will
- as seat especially of moral character
The same word Ruwach is used in 3:19 as well as verse 3:21. The interpretor decides how to render the passage, it is clear to me what Solomon was talking about.

Apollos had already been through there. But remember Apollos did not know about the death and ressurection of Jesus Christ until Aquilla and Priscilla had talked with him. All he(Apollos) had been preaching was the baptism of John. As a result of this, the people who had heard his preaching had been instructed only of the baptism of John and had not yet heard of the Holy Spirit.
Was not scripture fulfilled in Jesus? If so then why wouldn't faithful people to the Word Of God not know of the Holy Spirit. In addition didn't John the Baptist prepare the way of our Lord? Didn't he speak of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? Jesus was expected by faithful people when he arrived I dear say. Just some observations, more later.

bible translations
by minstrel ini would like the title of any available bible translations from the original greek/hebrew.
preferably from a scholarly authorship rather than personal 'sect' influences.
also, i would be interested if the translation can be incorporated in a 'parallel' version.. best wishes.

The Holy Spirit... and DOES God Speak to Us?
by AGuest inmay you all have peace.
last night when i went to bed, my heart was quite heavy: there were things on it, in it, thereon... whatever... that i could not reconcile: i know what i have heard from my lord - how do i get others who love him to grasp that such a thing is possible, to understand that they do not have to take my word for it, but can ask him, for i am nothing more than a good-for-nothing-slave... and have "sold" myself into the "service" of the one who "bought" me... so that it is his will that i must obey... whether earthling man hears... or refrain?
this is not new "fight" with me, let me tell you: i know exactly how jeremiah felt, for i cannot count the times my heart has felt the same thing.

For those of you who wish to 'hear'
by kes152 inmay you all have peace!
when i was sent to speak to ones and they came back asking me why it is that we hear and they do not, i had taken it before my lord to ask him.
this is what he told me, their hearts are hard and they do not wish to hear what i tell them.

Hi kes152,
Now what is the method or what do we have to do to hear? What will clean out our ears and eyes? What will erase our cynicism and purify our heart?
Can you explain to me the kings and priest that will reign with Christ for the 1000 years and the 144000 slaves sealed on the foreheads? Are they the same or are they different? May Yahwey and his son bless you.

A little history on the Bible
by gumby init's always intresting to hear the answers you get from people about how and when the bible was formed.
many minds go only as far as believing it was simply a compilation of god ordained books that we have to this day.
below is just a small bit of information that many may not be familiar with.

Some of the works are pure and obvious fiction while others show what was being thought of at the time in the Church. Some are obvious National Inquier type literature (if you want to call National Inquier literature ). Others are actually very good such as Clement 1 and 2, Hermas is also interesting. While some of the other writtings are an instant cure for insomia.
