Utter nonsense. Perhaps you feel that your morality is dependent on a superior being, but my morality is not. You do not need a god to have excellent morality.

today more than 5,500 people in the uk are waiting for an organ transplant that could save or dramatically improve their life.. most are waiting for a kidney*, others for a heart, lung or liver transplant.
but less than 3,000 transplants are carried out each year.. there is a desperate need for more donors.
Lady Lee, wasn't it only during the 1960's that organ transplants were considered wrong (cannibalism)? Way to go for fighting the machine!
last night we had a hell of a storm here.
there was thunder, lightning, pouring rain and wind.
personally i love stormy nights, cuddled up to hubby in a warm bed.
My kids tell me they would lay in bed watching the clock, hoping we weren't going and that I wouldn't call them. The boys' bedroom was in the downstairs, so I would call them through the heat register. They hated that call.
hahaha! That's EXACTLY what I would do when I still lived at home. Saturday morning I'd just stay in bed... hoping that my parents wouldn't be up and hoping that they wouldn't get me out of bed for service. Too funny!

I had not only service on saturdays but my book study also!!
lol... I totally understand! We switched to Saturday bookstudy for the last couple years we were in the borg. It was nice having an extra night "off" during the week, but it surely made Saturday a hell day. And Sunday we had meeting. Weekends were shot.

i would say for about the last 1.5 yrs before i left i didn't want to give a "good witness".
one because i didn't completly believe in it and two, i didn't want the householder to live the same misery i and most others were living.
Definitely. I started having serious doubts about a year before we left the org. I just couldn't go and preach to people any more. There's no way I could try to convince someone that this was the truth when I didn't believe it was the truth. I still went out, but I didn't talk at doors. My hours ranged from 0 - 4 during the last year I was in the org.

How will I get into the afterlife if some of my organs are missing?
But seriously, I have been an organ donor ever since I got my first driver's license (about 12 years now). So far I have not made any donations though.

That concept, in my (admittedly not always so astute) observation, seems.to make so many men so very uncomfortable.
A lot of people like to have power or control over other people. I'm not surprised many men have trouble with the concept of women being equals, especially if they are more "old school." Fundamentalist religions also encourage the attitude that men are superior.
I have always strived to treat my wife as an equal, even when we were in the organization.

I used to fake being sick. Maybe I wasn't really faking it... the thought of going to meetings or out in service really did get me sick the last year I was in the org. After leaving the org I have amazingly rarely been sick.
this is district convention weekend in my area.
now, i know that in the good old days, i would get up early, drive to hamilton (an unpleasant place), sit all day on an uncomfortable plastic chair with no legroom and listen to the usual boring tripe regurgitated from last year, with only a short break to eat dull sandwiches.
then i'd drive all the way home, tired and cranky and hungry, eat something and go to bed, knowing that i would get to repeat the whole sordid process the next day!

We are having another convention in our city this weekend. If I had the nerve, I'd go hang out where the dubs eat and cause a ruckus.
