who or what are we acountable to for our actions?.
it also implies to me that ALL must follow the same "code" instead of allowing autonomy for our neighbor to do his/her own thing. That to me is an infringment of our individuality.
Yep. A single, universal moral code does not exist. Not even among Christians. Christians subjectively choose which bible verses they follow and which they ignore.
Morality is not absolute; it changes and evolves over time with different societies and cultures.

Those who were under the control of the Watchtower Society may disagree ....
Yes, they often think that atheists are amoral. Apparently morality to them is entirely dependent on a belief in god and feeling that you must answer to him. My response to that line of thinking: "Are you saying fear of god is the only thing keeping you from killing, stealing, and raping?"

Atheists are accountable to society, just like everyone else.

... the Bible played an integral role in the building of the United States, including providing the basis for our freedom of religion ...
What? The Bible promotes freedom of religion?
Chalam, don't you mean "the Word was [a] God"? ;)
no one knows the answers to where we came from ...
I came from my parents.
... or why all the universe is here.
Did you expect it to be somewhere else?
I accept evolution.
where do i start?
i suppose with "me".
i am mid 20's, born in and live abroad with my wife, "serving" in a foreign language congregation.
I am 82 & I can say what I like.
lol, of course! I never said you couldn't say what you did. I just said I didn't like it because it passes judgment when you don't know the circumstances. Of course we are all free to voice our opinions here, and we are subject to receiving responses to those opinions. :)

... that you threw the baby out when you ditched the "dirty water" of the WT ...
Ugh... sorry Mouthy, but I hate it when people say that. It implies that no rational thought process was involved when "converting" to agnosticism or atheism. Perhaps that happens on some occasions, but other people arrive at that conclusion after much soul-searching and thought.
