  i used to do this everyday.

  when i was being abused, i used to pray incessantly for god to help me.

  I am definitely happier as an atheist. Probably because as a JW I had to suppress my scientific side and teach how evolution is a joke. I always hated that. Also, as a JW, I was constantly on guard when talking to non-JWs... always looking for things they say that are out of line with WTS teachings so I could "educate" them.

  I hated how religion made me so judgemental. And deep down I hated admitting that I was a JW... it was something I was embarrassed of.

  Atheism is in-line with my scientific beliefs and personal observations.

  Did you use the JW calendars?

  even in my hardcore active jw time i had no use for the jw calendar.

  i ordered it each year and put it into a drawer.

  most months were really ugly illustrated and it was completly useless without the holidays.

  Oh yeah, I was pressured. But only to not be "out done" by my younger sister. When she was 11 she decided to get baptized. I was 14 and it just wouldn't have been right! So I decided to get baptized too. I even told the elders that my decision had nothing to do with my younger sister. I bet that looked suspicious.

  fortunately, it is not the case with me but this deal about parents not talking to their children who have been disfellowshipped is horrid.

  it is bad enough for those who have been disfellowshipped, but to have their own family turn on them?

  as such, i think the jw's are a cult as they separate families.

  At various times I was also in charge of the sound department, the literature department, or helping with territories. As long as I didn't have to do talks I was ok.

  We have JW conventions here, and our city has done the same thing... pay for part of the rental of the coliseum. It angers some, but the J-Ho's do bring it a lot of $$$ to the local economy.

  I was a ministerial servant for a couple years. Conducted the bookstudy a couple times. Never gave public talks, because I told them I hated talks when the appointed me an MS. The most I ever did in the Service Meeting was the announcements.

  I got bitch-slapped by the CO at the first MS/Elder meeting I ever attended. He hounded me because my monthly time was only 6-8 hours. I was surprised that he was so "unolving" about it. I guess that fake attitude is reserved for only the regular flock.

  i enjoy the guest speakers that appear on tech tv's "unscrewed" show.

  in the latest one i watched there was a guy that believes the earth is encased in an imaginary cube, and that this proves there are 4 simultaneous days in a single earth rotation.. http://www.timecube.com.

  I hope you realize that the title is sarcasm based on the site I first linked to. The guy who wrote that page has serious issues and spews insults like crazy.

  Does that clear things up?
