for those who don't know by background, i was raised in the organization, third generation.
there are many elders, two anointed, a po and many pioneers in my family with all sorts of contact with cos, dos, and people in bethel.
to get to my point... my father just called me.
hahaha... that's the first time I saw this thread. I thought you must be joking when I read it! And you were. You got me.
yup, there's an aztec in my house: she's here.....drove all the way up from detroit yesterday.
she sure is good with directions, and called me from the very place i knew i could find her.
anyways, i won't say much, but she's alive and well....tired of course, but hung out where i work for awhile (the tavern/bar where i work), and then she went for something to eat, then walked around the streets of toronto.
Nice picture! Don't have too much fun, now!
i stopped by a store today to pick up a few things - forgetting completely about the big "convention" that is going on nearby.
while i was in the check out i noticed a number of people dressed up in the deli area with badges on.
so i thought to myself.........should i?
You rock! Thanks for sharing your experience! I didn't realize the convention was going on this weekend... I might have to go out and have some fun.
....when meeting a former member.. .
a few weeks ago i was outside doing the old yardwork routine: mow my postage stamp size of a yard, trim the bushes, edge it.
it was saturday and the jws were once again working my street.
But when JWs talk about the Watchtower being God's organization, I talk about how many times God destroyed Isreal, his organization in the Bible, and ask, Why did Jehovah destroy his organization back then?
That is a great line of reasoning I have never thought of. Thanks for the tip, and I really enjoyed your experience. Thanks for sharing it!
And don't forget to count your time!!!
.
is there any way to get the dateline program "witness for the prosecution" or the bbc program "suffer the little children"?
Thanks... yeah, I have found the transcripts or low quality streaming media, but I'm more interested in getting the programs on VHS (VCD or DVD would be even better).

did my usual jaunt this morning biking down to the train station in ddorf to get my sundaytimes (just need that shot of english !!!
)...taking my normal route home, low and behold, two dubs holding watchtowers in various languages, one was a young lad of say no more than 25, the other 50ish, looked like he could sell me a car lol..........i asked if they could speak english, the lad replied yes, they were greek by the way.........i was straight in with "i left due to the 1995 "generation" definition change" (hey i lied but whats a lil ole white lie in theocratic war eh?
)...........the young lad didnt know about it, although he admitted being in da truff at the time !!!!
seeing that these guys most likely read and write greek . i would have asked what it says in rev ...
How different is modern Greek from the ancient Greek used in the bible (Koine Greek)? Can modern Greeks read it?
I know I have a hard enough time reading 16th century English..
.
for all of you from the u.s.a.. just did fireworks for the first time in years.. it's independence day here.. very very fun!!!
!.
You're lucky... fireworks are illegal here. My wife and I are going to watch the city do a fireworks show near the river though.
i grew up with vinyl records and i found the sound great except for the scratches and dust on the records.
today, i think that no one plays vinyl records anymore or just threw them all away.. if you take away the dust and scratches of the vinyl disc, did you prefer the sound of the vinyl records compared to the sound of the digital cd's we have today?.
here is an article on the subject.. http://www.howstuffworks.com/question487.htm
There are mechanical harmonics that are "read" through the interplay of "needle and groove" that a CD (essentially nothing more than a musical form of optical character recognition software) can't duplicate.
onacruse: Yes, a CD would have difficulty reproducing the richness of some music. But digital CAN do it... it just needs a very high sampling rate.
Okay I could be wrong, I personally prefer the CD over LP but tell me this is there a music dvd or is it made better by playing a CD in a dvd. I ask this because I noticed that when I play my CD's in my dvd player they do sound way better than in my CD player. Are they now making a dvd music disc?
KGB: There is a simple reason CDs will sound better on a DVD player. DVD players have a higher quality DAC than a cheap CD player. The DAC converts the digital information into analog audio waveforms. A DVD player has needs a higher quality DAC than a CD player because it must support the higher bandwidth audio that DVDs contain. I used to have a cheap CD player ($100 or so) but I bypassed its DAC by using the optical output and connecting it to my receiver. The DAC in my receiver was better than the one in the CD player.
I have seen Super Audio CDs in stores but I have not seen any DVD Audio discs. (I think they're out though.) My DVD player won't do either DVD-A or SACD so I haven't experimented with either format yet.
