  Wanting to leave JWs & Spouse problems

  are you trying to fade or otherwise distance yourself from the org, but have a spouse that is a loyal jw?

  on various posts i read about some that are staying in the org, or having a difficult time because their spouse doesn't understand the change.

  i'll begin...my wife doesn't understand how i can turn my back on all the good things i've gotten from the org.

  I was going to try to fade but the elders got too pushy with me so I DA'd. My wife became even more active as a result. Then I got more vocal in my criticizms of the watchtower. Now the marriage is toast.

  Smokers - How do you justify it to yourself?

  i've been smoking since i quit being a witness.

  i smoked for a week when i was 15, i quit when i started studying.

  my "smoking" then was only a few cigarettes, i was by no means addicted.

  Sure, we all have to die from something, and we WILL die one day...but why the hell rush it, and help it along? Isn't our time here short enough? Isn't your life precious and worth more than that?

  I hate it when I see a post that prompts self-examination.

  Everyone has to die of something, so it may as well be from smoking. For me the alternative would be to live well into my eighties or nineties like the rest of my long-lived family. The difference is I have no kids to visit me while I rot in some old folks home, unable to change my own diaper. Why would I want to hang around long after life becomes a pain in the ass?

  as i told kl, i'm not sabotaging her thread, mine has a twist, for example, my wife 'descibes' me best by always reminding that i'm not 'normal.

  ' this means i do things differently than the ordinary person as i'm into many activities.

  many of these activities involve people.

  i was just watching an old rerun of "the nanny" where frans mom talks about trying to put spice into her marriage by meeting her husband at the door naked.

  fran makes a face and her mother says "meanwhile you'll never see jehovah's witnesses in the building again".

  i remember hearing funny stories about people coming to the door naked etc, but nothing quite that interesting happened to me.

  The man obviously didn't want too, but the older sister insisted, saying, "you live in this old age home, what do you need this money for?". And thats how she got the $5 donation...lol.

  This sounds so much like someone I know and has been a pain in my ass for the last 20 years. Is her name Mabel?

  I'm not from the Toronto area, but my husband is related to the Pasternaks in the Toronto area. Know any of them?

  Stevie used to be my PO, and we locked horns many times. I also got drunk with Jimmy a few times.
