These gotta be the same people that fart in elevators.
Yeah, I do that too, just before I get out.

what is the deal with the male species thinking it is ok, to pick their nose in public??.
i find it repulsive .... it just seems to me,when i catch people picking their nose, in almost all cases,it is a man doing it..... do men, find it hard to find a kleenex???.
morty of the, taught my boys not to pick their booger's in public class...

hey all, just wondering what your thoughts are on the $9 monthly charge that meetup.com is enforcing.
i am the organizer of my ex-jw meetup group, and personally i feel as a volunteer, i shouldn't have to pay anything except my time, work, and devotion for a support group.
i'll be working on an alternative to meetup.com for my monthly meetups.. how about you?
The Toronto group has 57 members but we rarely have more than 4 people show up. I stepped down as organizer recently, and I see no good reason to start paying. Meetups can easily be arranged here, or through email.

i only do it in private. in the privacy of my car.
Me too. Then I flick it at passersby. Walter
...why are they also so intent on kicking people out?
you'd think they'd want to be more lax in order to keep their membership numbers up.
"--question asked by my non-jw husband.
Like many corporations, they are rightsizing to improve profits. They don't want to keep people who are not "company men". Like any MLM business, they want people who are enthusiastic about the company, and work hard to sell literature and recruit new salespersons.

when people post to jwd, do you make an effort to understand "who" they are and take an interest in their wellbeing, or are they just 'ghosts in a machine' there to entertain you?
do the people here fall somewhere in-between for you?
do you think it matters?
are they just 'ghosts in a machine' there to entertain you?
I like that idea - everyone existing for my personal amusement.
Seriously, I view everyone as a real person. But it's easier with those who I've met in person or spoken to on the phone.

tijkmo's post on watson's "hypothetical" thread got me wondering again...just what the heck is it to sin against the holy spirit according to jw beliefs/teachings?
for something so important as to be "unforgivable" it has always seemed awfully vague to me (so vague that i was sure as a kid that it must be masturbation and for years i felt the great weight of ultimate doom heavily upon me).
is it intentionally vague, do you think, just to keep everyone on their toes and hyper-paranoid or am i missing something?
just what the heck is it to sin against the holy spirit
It's to call oneself "spirit directed" while at the same time protecting child abusers.

apologies if this has been done before.... .
when i left the troof, i happened to learn many of the things i had been taught about rcs were lies.
i thought it would be interesting to see how many jw false teachings about rcs we can list.
LongHairGal, I believe it. My mom was a German living in Serbia during WW2. When the Russian army came through her family was separated ind placed into different concentration camps. When she was released in 1947 she found that her husband, thinking she was dead, remarried and had kids with his new wife. So my mom got a divorce. A catholic priest told her she could never receive "absolution" because she was divorced. A few years later a different priest contradicted the first one and gave her absolution. Because of the inconsistancy she ended up becoming a JW.
Personally, I think all religions are full of crap.

I?ve read other places and have been told by 2 priests and other RCs that they do not believe that. I guess they?re engaging in ?independent thinking? or are "apostates", LOL.
The Catholics definitely have more freedom of thought. I've never heard of a Catholic throwing their kids out into the street because they refuse to believe some doctrine. I don't think the Catholic church is officially in favor of birth control, but I'd guess that most have practised it.

it is a fact, that the watchtower have relegated jesus christ to "just another servant of jehovah.
got a copy of "the greatest man who ever lived" book?
the only book they publish dedicated to jesus, doesn't even have his name on it.
Old Testament or New Testament - it makes no difference. The scriptures they use most from either part of the bible are those that are suited to controling the rank & file. If there's a rule in the bible they'll use it to keep their slaves in line.
Is there anything good in the bible, OT or NT, that they model themselves on? Something that doesn't involve control, meetings, service, or donations?
I can't think of anything.

I was raised as a Roman Catholic and went to a Catholic school as a kid.
Myth: RCs believe the communion "hosts" magically turn into the literal blood and flesh of Christ before they consume it. Therefore, they are cannibals. (Fact: I've never met any RCs, including priests, who believe it is anything more than a blessed symbol.)
When I was Catholic we were taught that the bread actually turned into the body of Christ; that's why we were supposed to let it melt in our mouths rather than biting into it.
You may find this link interesting. I just quickly skimmed over it, but it should explain how they view it.

Myth: RCs believe they are the one and only true religion. (Fact: RCs believe they are one of many paths to God.)
In school we were taught that merely setting foot into a non-Catholic church was enough to make us roast in hell forever.
