you ever been driving, and traffic builds up coming up to an accident?
human nature being what it is, everyone stops to see the accident.
of course, by the time we get there, we are so pissed at the traffic, we slow down ourselves to make sure we see what all the fuss was about.. compare that perhaps to seeing the biggest accident of them all, bethel.
I went on tours of the Canadian Bethel many times when bringing bible studies there for tours. What impressed me was the food at lunch. It was good, and plenty of it. I thought that having 2 prayers for the meal was a little much though.
I sure wouldn't bother with it now though.

but do anyone of you have had bad experiences like having to hold your breath because the person sitting right next to you really smelled?
I used to have a book study in my home. One day the service overseer called and asked if I minded if a certain married couple were assigned to the group. The reason he was asking was that other people wouldn't allow them in their homes because of their smell. Apparently they didn't bathe regularly. Naturally, I did what every good JW would do - I said NO! I didn't want them either.

i never thought i'd ever enter a kingdom hall but we did it.

for all of you who made a conscious decision to leave the organization.. what was the price you had to pay or what was you willing to give up in order to be true to yourself.
( wife, children, extended family, friends, jobs...etc).
and how have you coped?
When I left I didn't have any 'real' friends in the org, but I am probably going to be divorced over it. I initially thought I might be disinheirited by my mother as well, but that's looking better now.

if you wanted to, would you be able to convince your local elders to reinstate you?
you'd have to go to every meeting, sitting at the back, showing 'the right attitude' and not talking to anyone.
you'd have to do this for 6 months to 1 year.
I honestly don't think I could put on that kind of show for more than a month. But I'm sure they'd make me do it for alot longer than 6 months or a year before they'd consider re-instating me.

The song I hated the most was song number 91 - 'Being Taught by Jehovah'. The second verse always pissed me off, and as a witness I refused to sing it for many years before I finally made my exit. The offending words are:
Jehovah gives us shepherds too
Who strive to teach with insight.
Their educated tongue reflects
That in their heart they're upright.
The weary ones they seek to help.
Unruly ones they counsel.
By teaching what is true and right;

Really, what a load of crap!

I just hauled out my old song book and guess what? I couldn't find any that I really cared for. In fact, as I looked at the words I couldn't even put a tune to most of them, and I've only been out for a few months. I found a few I really hated though.

i know it's a painful subject for some.
i gave up my first love when i was studying.
When I became a JW I basically threw everyone away. I was engaged and broke my engagement because she was not interested in becoming a JW. I was also held up as some kind of example for doing it, but I was quite depressed at the time. Looking back, I feel like a total a$$hole about it now.
