please visit the blog: http://governingbodyletters.blogspot.com/2008/05/bethelites-viewpoint-on-recent.html.
a bethelite's viewpoint on the recent organization changesto me the most obvious reason has nothing to do with control, or money.
it has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used.
Problem is, I haven't seen it actually happening in reality.
Each area is going to be different, I think Africa and Asia are still growing at a huge rate where the US and the western world is standing still? According to my brother, at his congregation in ne England 3 or 4 elders have stood down in the last year. I know most of them, and just 5 years ago I thought they were heading out the door with me nevermind being elder material!
HOW OFTEN OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS HAVE YOU HEARD PEOPLE SAY "Even if it isn't true, it's still the best way of life."
There was a similar situation to this in bible times, where the people were unsure about how to do something. They came up with a solution which they thought was the best way to do it given the circumstances, similar to what people say now about the jw's that its the nearest thing top what god wants that we have. This wasn't acceptable to Jehovah though, and he put one of them to death over it ( 2Sa 6:3-8). Next time a jw says that remind them of that story.

He asks; "Do you want me to arrange for someone to start taking the girls to the meetings?". (GOOD SIGN)
I said; "What do you mean? Susan* is taking them but we'll talk tomorrow."
I take it 'Susan' is your wife? Would your father not have already spoken to her and so know you haven't been going to meetings for a year/ spending a lot of time on the computer/ect. If he's close enough to have known who the po is maybe he already knows anyway.
If your going to talk to him about it at lunch, I particularly like Terrys post, although I might not go into as much detail about cults etc as what he has.
Good luck!

it can be picked apart scientifically and it's prophetic claims don't withstand scrutiny.
surely god could've come up with something more convincing?.
if the almighty had started genesis by establishing his credentials thoroughly i'd be more inclined to take the rest of the book seriously.
but that doesn't mean I don't envy the comfort that the people who do beleive it can find from reading it.False comfort.
I've given up the security blanket mate and I no longer envy those who have it. Just a few months ago my cousin died (inactive JW) and I could see how much comfort his believing relatives drew from the resurrection hope. I was genuinely happy for them that they had what they needed. Even so, I don't want it.
Reality may be cold and hard sometimes but it is the real life, the only life there is after all.
I view the bible as more of a self-help book. Some bits are way over the top, but it also holds some good advice for life too. What most people class as living a good christian life is just good citizenship, nothing to do with religion or the bible. But viewing it as something to live EVERY aspect of your life by makes as much sense to me as somebody in 2000yrs time finding a copy of 'men are from mars, women are from venus', or such like, and deciding to live their lives by its rules even though their culture is totally different. You say the comfort believers get is false comfort, but were the people actually comforted or just pretending to be? It doesn't work for you, does that mean its not possible for it to work for them? I'm basically an agnostic with a strong belief in the religions of Psychology and Science. Until I find evidence to the contrary, I too think this life is all we've got. Given a choice, I'd rather spend my time chilling, enjoying myself and having a happy life without any hassles rather than the mental struggles I have trying to work out what I believe in debating in threads like this one. That what I mean when I say I envy the comfort of people who believe, because they can just get on with enjoying their lives and have a crutch to help them get back to enjoying things when it all goes wrong. To me thats not so much as why you need faith, as a basic definition of faith. To believe something is true, even though you can't comprehensively prove it to be. I've got pretty much the same oppinion of the bible as you, but that doesn't mean I don't envy the comfort that the people who do beleive it can find from reading it.
I hope everythings going ok for you.

i have been off the net.
the evil net...lol.
sometimes other people are really that sick.
None of this helps if they come in your home and load it right on your machine because they were close to your family once.

You could try this two ways........ Order it from a public computer and connect it to a time delay video and motion detector to start recording and catch the person in the act. I would check with law enforcement because to be able to be entered as evidence the video quality may have to be within certain parametres.
Or, a cheaper option would be to order all the equipment from your home computer, but phone up and cancel the order. The hacker won't know you've cancelled the order and won't want to risk coming back into your house and being recorded breaking and entering, hacking, etc.
ok here is my problem - not enough space on my c drive.
i have two hard drives.
the master is 60gb and the slave is 40 gb - i know - i know - these days that isn't nearly enough so i need to buy a larger hard drive but until then .
I looked into this to try and reinstall windows on my computer without losing all the stuff I've got saved and was recomended to use partition magic. The free downloadable demo is just to show you how it works, you need to pay to be able to actually use it. Its $70 (US) from the company, but you can pick it up from amazon for a fraction of that.

shropshire starapril 9, 2008. why would loving faith allow death?.
features news editor neil thomas examines the issues behind the tragic death of new mum emma gough.. words written by heaven knows who and attributed to moses have brought about the apparently needless death of a young shropshire mother, and blighted many other lives, more than 3,000 years later.. far-fetched, possibly.
yet, how else are we to interpret the death of emma gough?.
Mrs. emma gough DIED THANKS TO THE WTBTS, IT WAS THE WTBTS THAT BRAINWASHED HER TO DIE... nOT HER OWN CONSCIENCENCE. I'M 100% AGAINST many posters that try to say EMMA GOUGH made her own choice. THE WTS MADE HER CHOICE. AFTER YEARS OF BRAINWASHING. NOW SHE'S DEAD THANKS TO THE WTS. I DON'T SEE ANYWAY POSTERS HERE CAN DEFEND HER DEATH. BASED ON WTS DOCTRINE/ OR CHOICE OF TREATMENT.
I think this is an important point everyone is missing in their arguements. Do people have a right to make an informed choice about what happens to their bodies and what treatments they receive? I think they do. The problem is, the influence techniques used in groups like Jehovahs Witnesses don't allow for an informed choice to be made. They are conditioned to believe everything they are told by the wbts and to discount all infomation to the contrary.
Did Emma Gough make her own decision with regards to her treatment, or was she influenced by a lifetimes worth of conditioning to make the choice the wbts wanted her to make?
but given that the rapist is now 61 years old, in "poor health," and that prisons are hardly conducive to good health, I think it is not a stretch to expect that he will die in prison.
Maybe, maybe not. HMPS is paranoid about being sued so it ensures prisoners have exactly the same medical treatment as someone on the outside would have, sometimes with less waiting list times. A 61 year old could expect to be on a spur with people his own age (so no safety worries), 3 square meals a day, ample heating in winter, and nursing staff on call 24hrs a day to deal with any health issues. If he's only got the state pension to live on then as a pensioner he could actually be better off inside prison.
Knowing the UK judiciary, that's probably 10 years total!
The UK prison inmates are notoriously 'hard' on child sex offenders..... don't think they worry about two witnesses - the more the merrier in their view.
It sounds like 10 yrs total, which in the UK system will mean he'll probably get released after 5. And inmates are hard on sex offenders, thats why rule 43 keeps them segregated from the ordinary prisoners. You don't get that much of a hard time if all the other inmates around you are in for the same thing......
It would be interesting to find out how many people in prison are actually jw's. In the UK we have a freedom of information act, so anybody writing to the ministry of justice should be able to find out how many prisoners classify themselves as jw's, how many of them come under rule 43, and how the % of rule 43 prisoners that classify themselves as jw's compares with the % of jw's in UK society.
