by bagpuss inhi, i,m new to this board,although i've been lurking around for some time now and just wanted to say a big thankyou to lots of you,who without realizing it have helped me alot as i get used to life as an ex jw.
its really good to know that others have had similar thoughts and feelings since leaving and that i'm not the only one who's had doubts or questioned the lack of love in an organization that feels it holds the monopoly on the stuff!
it's great to know i'm normal!!!

according to the information i've found online the last posting day for standard parcels is dec 11th for usa and december 15th for the uk/europe, so you should all have plenty of time to select and send a gift, although sending sooner rather than later is prefered.
can everyone taking part post on this thread what things they like, what their interests are etc so that the person who is buying a gift for you has some idea what to get you.

Theres a few people not got their pm yet, its taking me a bit longer than I thought. I've sent most of the pm's out, but still have another 19 to send. I'll post on here as soon as the last one is sent so if your worried I've missed you out check on here to see if I've posted that yet. If I have missed anyone out, don't worry, I should still be able to manouver things to include you!
Ahem. If anyone has not signed in here to say what they'd like, and I happen to get their name, they get....
A word of warning, if you do decided to send fruitcake, etc, do not send it across any international borders or by airmail. I visions of secret santa gifts being involved in controled explosions at airports arond the world, lol. Also, try to check if the person you're sending the cake to has any alergies, nuts for example.FRUITCAKE!

How will GADGET get his Secret Santa?
by Bubbamar ini am so excited about being part of the secret santa this year and was wondering - since gadget is so kindly organizing this for us - how does he get a secret santa.
i would hate for him to be left out.

Maybe he is rigging things so that he gets all of the presents and then will send everyone a box of Cracker Jacks.

I can't do that plan now, my plans out! I put everybodys name in a hat and pull out a name at random to choose who is going to send a goft to who. My name goes in just the same as everyone elses, the difference being I know who my santa is so its not secret. I meant to send everyone an address over the weekend, but due to circumstances I couldn't. I've just done the draw, and will be starting pm'ing people with addresses after I finish work at lunchtime tomorrow. It might take a while though I've got 60-70 pms to send, lol.

I must apologise, I had a problem over the weekend and was unable to sort out the secret santa draw like I had arranged. I've just finished doing the draw, and will start sending out details for people when I finish work at lunchtime tomorow, and everybody should have they're messages by wednesday. Sorry for the delay!

a big story in the uk right now.. from the descriptions of the childs condition on the radio, where it was said she was in constant pain, i think it would be right to allow her to die.
she has zero chance of any kind of quality of life and prolonging this suffering is just inhuman.. if scientists were doing this to an animal, there would be complaints that it was cruel.. a sad story indeed, but sometimes the kindest thing is to let go .... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3701492.stm.

My personal opinion is that if I were to try to slam someone the only person I would really be belittling would be myself. Sometimes I have to admit is difficult to walk away from the computer when someone gets nasty. Sometimes I want to be nasty back.But I work hard at having some self respect.
And I firmly believe that what goes around comes around. If I want respect from others then I should give it also. I prefer to feel good about helping others than if I bashed them and walked away thinking that was good. Seen and lived enough of it in my life to know I want no part of it.
I wholeheartedly agree with LL here. The only time I can remember doing anything like this online was when I was having a hardtime and somebody did something I thought was out of order, but that thread was deleted anyway so its all in the past now.
