i've visited this many times in the past month or so, joined yesterday and finally got the nerve to post!

My sister is being harassed by the elders

sometime ago i wrote here in this forum about the case of my sister, who decided to stop attending the meetings because she realised that the watchtower society is an evil organization.

this happened more than one year ago.

i am not living in the same country of my sister, so i learn about her case when she calls me or when she write me through whatsapp.

Any chance she could get them "filmed" appearing at the door etc?

Definitely make a statement with the Police - then its on record.

Record all the conversations [phone and in person]

Threaten to take the matter to a Talk Radio Station.

Threaten to put their calls and the video on the WWW / YouTube.

Take advice from a lawyer. If he starts writing letters to them they will have to respond via lawyers which costs money.

Annual JW Pride Day

what would be jw's reaction if the governing body, in all seriousness, announced a new jw pride day to be celebrated in the congregation every year?.

I would so like to have the above pride sign printed onto self-adhesive stickers and pay some homeless dude to paste them on the vehicle windows at the RC !

Looking Back In Retrospect To 1975...

greetings, folks: so, it's been 40 years since 1975. and, if you were actively involved with the witnesses back then, the mindset of many was, that by early autumn of 1975, it would mark the anniversary of 6000 years of human existence.

and, the hope was then, that it would mark the start of the 1000-year of christ, from the heavenly realm.

but, looking back now, 40 years ago, in june of 1975, only 3 more months remained until early autumn.

churches are joining the widening club of entities using big brother-style facial recognition software to track people.

and they are doing so in secret, according to a producer of a specialized program designed for religious institutions.. churchix uses cctv footage or photos to match churchgoers against a database of high-resolution pictures that a church has to compile on its own.

it wasn't all bad all the time!

I agree with you many have and do wonderful things for others - I think they would have done that even if they were not Dubs. May I have a personal trumpet blast here.....We have done and still are doing "things" for other dubs. That's just how it is. However when wife and I stopped attending the "good deeds" toward us ended like a light switch.

Agape' love is not supposed to work like that.

Current things we were able to do: Assist elderly sisters whose pensions are so minimal that they cannot come by in the month, with shopping and money - Why - cos the congo was not willing to assist them.

btw we are totally faded out now.

Back in the Basement

looks like the faithful jws are back in the basement, the oct 15th wt has this image on page 9. but now the lights have been turned out!

i guess the persecution is really kicking in if the electric company has shut off their electricity, or the jws are really, really paranoid that the government is gonna get them if they have the lights on!.

only one guy is smart enough to use his tablet (far right), the rest of the jws are old school, using a lantern to read their bibles in the dark!

Well here in South Africa we have a Major electricity supply crisis wherein the country's power Utility known as ESKOM cannot generate enough electricity for the entire country so we are subject to daily rolling country-wide blackouts - this picture could be right out of the scene here at this time. Although I would hardly term our blackouts as the persecution scene being hyped-up in the photo.

Yup.... unless you got your Tablet you really are not up to speed with the Borgian Ferrari are you!

Changes for Volunteers at Conventions and Assemblies in Spain

someone sent me this from jwtalk.

a guy on there just posted this regarding changes to the way the jws volunteer at conventions in spain and the changes seem fairly major:.

we had a special meeting today called a training session for volunteers.

In principle the changes are a good thing - for any organisation - In my country [South Africa] there would be OSHA and labour issues that could come into play. I am not aware of any changes here as I am out of the Borg.

Of course when young and single these pre-convention / convention / post convention activities were wonderful opportunities to scope out the talent and get acquainted. They were always well supported.

i am not a jw, never been one, but linked to a born in jw via family.

last week i received an email from an anonymous person.

Hi - What if the sender actually knew you and your circumstances quite well and was Genuinely trying to assist you and those you are connected to? It could be a "God-send" -

Now you are truly in a position to tell your relatives / JW connections that you have read this book which seems very genuine and non-vitriolic in its content- etc etc and that it has some really eye-opening stuff.

You cant get disfellowshipped for that - although if you are ....lets say in a romantic relationship with the JW... you could risk them telling you to break things off etc. And they may just have a mommy who is not a very lateral thinker and who would go ballistic if her child was being shown diseased apostate stuff etc and if self-same mummy runs off to equally nutty and mentally rancid cousin [still - in ] who feeds her head with a lot of negative shit ....................either the love of your life gets with the picture here or you may be wasting good valuable time in your life and may have to make the heart-breaking decision to move on in life.

Some of the people dialoguing with you - even anonymously - may just have your best interests at heart

Go do some figuring out!
