I have often wondered similiarly to what Russell said in that 1879 WT posted by Frankiespeakin -

If Jehovah is backing the organization, then certainly he could easily provide funds for it. I mean it's almighty God we are talking about here. Even if they did insist on some sort of tithing or giving for the principal of it, it certainly shouldn't have to be sent to NY. The funds should just be used around the KH or used to help the truly needy.

NY should be flush with money from Jehovah's blessing.

We got the letter read last night also.

I don't think it's a "financial trouble" thing as much as it's that they have more going out than coming in from donations right now.

You know how some rich people act like they are 'sinking financially' if they aren't seeing their bank account increase each month?

They obviously didn't get the influx of cash from the NNWT that they were hoping for at the annual meeting.

I'm pretty sure that Sanderson is too young to be in the "overlapper" class, unless we are now saying that persons can partake in their teens.

Cutting it off at 2 generations - Creates Urgency. Doomsday groups have to have urgency to keep membership up.

Lets use 90 year lifespans and 25 year olds getting annointed. If you are 25 in 1914 and get annointed and live to be 90, that would put you dead in 1979.

If another overlapping person gets annointed in 1979 at 25, then he is now 59. Not exactly a "doomsday is tomorrow" equation, but it makes it more urgent than the end could be 180 years (90 + 90) from 1914.

Doomsday in 2094 isn't going to scare anybody into submission.

They just give the flock what they want to hear. Basically this can be summed up by the following two-word thoughts:

"We Good" "They Bad" "End Soon" (said in a caveman voice lol)

Just tickle the ears. Buy a few more months/years. Yada yada.

I will say - it appears quite obvious that they are extremely sensitive and defensive over this 100 year anniversary.

I guess we are under new rules. New truth. Since THESE guys are speaking for God, then we can trust them this time. I mean, it is vital. -FW

It's the same ole same ole. They insinuate and obviously have the intention to send the messages -

We speak for God

You can't get to God except through us

but they don't specifically state it. That way they can deny it later and blame the reader/follower for jumping to conclusions or reading into their words what what "never intended".

Deceitful manipulation.

Annual Meeting Instructions to MS / Elders

have any elders or ministerial servants here recieved any specific instructions regarding the annual meeting?

as an ms all i have been told to do is to arrive early to "await further instruction due to the sensitive nature of my assignment".

ironically all i can imagine after hearing that a few times is dispensing cyanide laced kool aid to attendees.

I am currently serving as an elder and I personally, as well as the other elders in my hall, haven't received any special instructions whatsoever that could clue us all in to anything.

I do know that brothers at the host kingdom halls (which I am not at) have received detailed instructions on the arrangements and so forth. If there is a release, those boxes of literature are somewhere in place and ready. The fact that there are limited host halls, limits the number of brothers that know anything to share on the forum.

I'm not sure they care if thousands question the leadership at this point.

They are obviously planning on decreases in publishers with the branch closings and all the consolidation.

Maybe they are just preparing for the inevitable/intentional fallout.

I think they would prefer 1,000,000 mindless members sending them $100.00 a month ($100,000,000/mth total) than a bunch of pesky "thinkers" with all their questions.

They can always explain it away as "persecution", "refinements", or "cleansing".

is the watchtower study next sunday about "who is the fds?

" planned in the same weekend as the watchtower annual meeting?.

this can't be coincidental!.

This Sunday's WT study is about watching out for "bad" family members, " honoring Jehovah with our valuable things" (big surprise), limiting our "commercial interests", and keeping the kids in the "truth".

I love this line on money - " we are merely giving to Jehovah what already belongs to him"

It's backwards. It is vital that the slave be attendant on those he serves. Recognize a slave? Barely happens. -jgnat

I never thought about it like that. That's strong.

I have thought about the fact that the scripture is obviously addressing the slave not the "domestics". It is couseling/warning the slave to do a good job. It certainly isn't telling the domestics "you better get to finding the slave that has all the food so you don't starve to death" It is quite a stretch when you really look at.
