we went through the motions of jw small talk and then she started telling me about her co visit from last week.

I feel your pain. I have a long history of family in this thing also. What's weird to think about is actually what our grandparents joined into. It's not even close to the same religion, but people always refer to their "heritage in the truth". My original peeps weren't even called Jehovah's Witnesses. Craziness.
But back to the topic... the org is just doing the same ole game of moving the cheese.

i've been deeply following jw "culture" the last 2 years and i am getting the impression that the leadership is currently split in two different directions.
on one hand you get this sense of a happy, joyful and less strict religion and on the other hand there is still this strict, harsh religion of the past.
let me explain more.. there have been a lot of video's lately that show dancing in kingdom halls, bethel dancing to the "happy" song, jw.org downplaying their beliefs and making it sound like daisies.
I see at least 2 things happening at the same time:
1) Image vs Reality / PR machine - this is for recruiting, selling the followers on reform, public image for use in the courtroom, etc.
2) Typical abuse pattern within the org of building up to tear down. Give one helping warm-and-fuzzy Christianity then 3 helpings of mind control. It is intentionally confusing. That is part of the abuse and control. Most do not know about the game, even at the top, because they are being played by the game.

i have noticed something even long before even looking into ttatt, something about morris bothered me.
i am personally very attuned to body language, facial expressions and general subtleties in human interaction.
there was something about his face that really bothered me, and i will explain it.

Yes totally agree. Nice to know you have had the same experience. It's a bit surreal to see now - on the other side - as you say. I had no idea before such a thing happened.
I know I must have done the same thing. In our mind we were "defending the truth". In reality, we were brainwashed cult weirdos. Sad.
I guess it will just have to click for the wives at some point. Hopefully it will, if we patiently erode the foundation. The cult has a huge head start on us, but we have 24/7 access. I insist on winning.

For me that sealed my mental departure from this madness, watching him speak with such distain about people who have put so much into their fantasy.
Yeah after that talk, I was complaining to my wife. She was agreeing all the way down the line until I said, "It's so obvious that God isn't using that moron", then BOOM she flipped. Cult girl came out. Eyes changed and everything. She actually mentioned the word divorce later that evening, but in a weird, passive-aggressive way. And we are a couple who have never gotten into a fight bad enough to separate for even one evening.
It's sick the hold they have on people. Now I know why they do background checks on people that pick the GB up from the airport and have handlers etc. They probably get death threats often. They earn them.
