Should Bush Make His STATE Visit To The UK Next Week?
by Englishman innote that i'm talking about a state visit, not your run-of-the-mill political scenario.. state visits from visiting presidents, kings and queens involve open-top parades through pall mall next to queen lizzie in an open landau, several nights in the best suite at buckingham palace, soldiers and guardsmen in full regalia and banquets galore until the excellent food pops out your ears.
that's a state visit.
i don't think that we've had a full state visit from a us president since jfk.. now, our good friend george dubya is expected for a state visit next week.

A friend of mine who drifted away from the Oraganization asked me for some info that would annoy an Elder that is bothering him at work. Apparently, since this Elder has discovered my friend was born into the truth and since faded away, he has decided to use his lunchtimes clocking up his service report by annoying my friend. Dont worry. He has no friends or family who are still witness.

Do Not Be a Victim of Propaganda!
"A fool will believe anything." —P ROVERBS 14:15,
THERE is a difference—a big difference—between education and propaganda. Education shows you how to think. Propaganda tells you what to think. Good educators present all sides of an issue and encourage discussion. Propagandists relentlessly force you to hear their view and discourage discussion. Often their real motives are not apparent. They sift the facts, exploiting the useful ones and concealing the others. They also distort and twist facts, specializing in lies and half-truths. How can you protect yourself from the types of people that the Bible calls "profitless talkers" and "deceivers of the mind"? (Titus 1:10) Once you are familiar with some of their tricks, you are in a better position to evaluate any message or information that comes your way. Here are some ways to do this.
Be selective: A completely open mind could be likened to a pipe that lets just anything flow through it—even sewage. No one wants a mind contaminated with poison
Qualified book 1955
If we have love for Jehovah and for the organization of his people we shall not be suspicious, but shall, as the Bible says, 'believe all things,' all the things that The Watchtower brings out, inasmuch as it has been faithful in giving us a knowledge of God's purposes and guiding us in the way of peace, safety and truth from its inception to this present day.
Put information to the test: "Beloved ones," said John, a first-century Christian teacher, "do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions." But it is far better for each individual personally to choose what he will feed his mind. It is said that we are what we eat, and this can apply to food for both the body and the mind. No matter what you are reading or watching or listening to, test to see whether it has propagandistic overtones or is truthful.
Jehovah is not pleased if we receive that food as though it might contain something harmful . We should have confidence in the channel God is using.
WT Feb 1981
Ask questions: As we have seen, there are many today who would like to 'delude us with persuasive arguments.' (Colossians 2:4) Therefore, when we are presented with persuasive arguments, we should ask questions.
How is such independent thinking manifested? A common way is by questioning the counsel that is provided by God's visible organization.
WT Jan 15 th 1983
Do not just follow the crowd: If you realize that what everybody thinks is not necessarily correct, you can find the strength to think differently. While it may seem that all others think the same way, does this mean that you should? The command given at Exodus 23:2 serves as a good principle: "You must not follow after the crowd for evil ends."
“We will realize that Jehovah knows what is going on in his organization, and if he is willing to permit it, who are we to insist it should be different? If we really have faith, we will know that if it is wrong he will straighten it out eventually, and we are far safer inside his organization even with these minor difficulties than we would be on the outside where only chaos and destruction await us.” WT May 1957

Well, this thread brings back all those supressed memories of how anything that was fun was eventually outlawed. I recall a talk was given about immoral lyrics in pop music. My mum cames home and distroyed her entire Motown collection, and all my sisters Reggae LP's.
Jeez, I even had to hide my copy of Elton Johns Goodbye Yellow Brick Rd, because he was gay!! What did they think? That I was going to turn gay if I listened to "Saturday nights alright for fighting"? Yet more than one Elder had a few Queen Albums lying around...I just didnt get it.

Very good. It still breaks my heart to think of Prince as a dub. I was such a huge fan when growing up, and was told (on many occations) not to listen to Princes music by my mum and various Elders, and now the idiot goes and becomes one!!

God knows what happened to that piece of plastic I carried magazines in, but me and the kids made some great paper mache' models using that "kiddies" book the Society has just released. (the one with the pictures containing theocratic genocide) It was a "gift" from the mother-in-law, but my wife and I decided it would be more beneficial to rip out the pages, soak them in water and let the kids have a bit of fun making a mess.

There seems to be a lot of political correctness going on here.I was in the process of being diss'ed when I first noticed a fresh-faced young lass strutting around the KH. Ahh, the way she wore that blue dress I almost forgot to breath! Looking back, it seems a tad shallow, but I got myself re-instated just to meet her. We got engaged and then married (much to the horror of her family) She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, and she reminded me a lot of Audrey Hetburn.I introduced her to my worldy friends and showed her a really good time outside the restraints of the Org. She soon realised that people outside the org were more friendly and genuine than all the people she had grown up with. I never pressured her to stop attending meetings and went along with her until she lost interest. We'll be celebrating our 12 wedding anniverery this year and have two beautiful kids. She is still the most beautiful women I have ever met.
I guess if you're unhappy with your current girl, go for the Dub. Its got to be worth the gamble!

The Growing Critical Study of Jehovah's Witnesses.
by Blueblades in.
almost from the beginning, the bible student--jehovah's witness movement has had its severe critics.in the past criticism was ordinarily directed at its doctrinal, civic or blood transfusion issues.
some dissidents who broke with the society also censured the wt.authority struture and inconsistencies in wt.theology.a few attempted to take their concern to the general public.. beginning in about 1980 all of that changed.in the past little harm came to the society from their critics.however devastating criticism has been unleashed against the society, especially since 1980. this devastating criticism has been leveled at the heart of the society's history of ever-changing date setting speculation, shifting and changing doctrine, and the concealment-of-errors strategies has been exposed by recourse to wt.literature itself.. the wt.officials have no recourse ( because they are unable to respond adequately ) but, to declare all dissidents as apostates and forbid the reading of all anti-witness materials.including on the internet.which includes this forum maintained by simon and all who have an in-put here-in.. good work everyone and welcome to the team of the ever growing critical study of jehovah's witnesses.. blueblades.

Prince joins Jehovah's
From ANTONELLA LAZZERI in Los Angeles
POP star Prince is banging on people’s front doors — after becoming a Jehovah’s Witness.
The pint-sized singer tries to recruit people to the religion by calling on homes in his spare time.
But some stunned homeowners have not welcomed unannounced visits from the star, who had hits with Let’s Go Crazy and Purple Rain.
A Jewish housewife in Eden Prairie, Minneapolis, told how Prince and his religious sidekick — former Sly and the Family Stone bass player Larry Graham — asked to be let in.
The woman, called Rochelle, said: “Door bell rings. My husband runs upstairs and says, ‘Prince is at the door!’
“I say, ‘No way!’ It was so bizarre. This is Sunday and it’s the night of Yom Kippur.
“My first thought is, ‘Cool, cool, cool. He wants to use my house for a set. I’m glad! Demolish the whole thing!’
“Then they start in on this Jehovah’s Witnesses stuff. I say, ‘You know what? You’ve walked into a Jewish household, and this is not something I’m interested in.’
“He says, ‘Can I just finish?’ Then the other guy gets out his little Bible and starts reading about the land of Israel.
“They stayed for about 25 minutes and left us a pamphlet. He was very kind.”
The pair then drove off. Prince’s lawyer Londell Macmillan said he was “very committed” to Jehovah’s Witnesses.
