It's my birthday today
by Bruja-del-Sol in... but most of my new (post jw) friends either don't know my birth date (if people don't specifically ask i won't tell them), or they are 2500 kilometers away in the netherlands... so all that's left to celebrate with me are my hubby, the two doggies, cat and my two rabbits... mixed feelings, i miss my friends and family around and haven't found friends in spain yet.
luckily our daughter will visit us the end of the month... and yesterday we've found a new rental house and we're moving into it next month already!
i'm thrilled and really looking forward to it, then we will finally be able to let all the rest of our belongings come to spain (2/3 of our stuff is stored in the netherlands).. so with this in mind, i'll just say 'happy birthday to me' and will enjoy my third birthday in espana .

How old were you when baptized?
by Coded Logic ini was baptized at the age of 11. like most of us, my commitment wasnt to honor god but rather i was gang pressed into the service of the wtbts.
and, at such a young age, it was impossible for me to appreciate the enormity of my actions.
honestly, how could i possibly have known any better?

3rd generation born in, dunked age 16 because my dad sent my worldly boyfriend away and I felt that by getting baptized I didn't lose my love for nothing. Another reason was that most of the kids my age would be baptized that same assembly, so I hoped that they would finally accept me... but they didn't. A year and a half later, age 18, I was married to an elder's son, finally away from home.
The most idiotic thing my dad said after I got divorced and DF'd at age 33: "I can understand that when you get married at such young age, it's possible you've made a wrong choice and want to change it. But I cannot understand that you've left Jehovah".... I was even younger when I got dunked, why can't it be possible to rethink such a decision made at a way too young age???
Like Oubliette always says: "Let's review: It's a cult!"
It had a happy ending after all, since I found my long lost boyfriend after nearly 18 years and we're happily married now

How do we set up a "Used New Bike Fund" for Terry?
by BucketShopBill inis there any way we can try to start a crowd-fund to help terry get some wheels quicker than he currently can?
with craigslist and a couple of bucks from a few members we can help terry get moving.
does anyone have any ideas how we can do a "theists for terry" bike fund raiser and challenge the atheists to a bucket-head challenge?

Hahaha Splash you've made me laugh really hard!
It feels great to be able to help someone. Wishing you all the best and lots of safe miles and fun with your new bike, Terry!
And if anybody ever needs a couple of bucks to help them out, count me in again.

Observations from a day at the zoo
by Simon inso we went to calgary zoo today and i'm torn between zoo's being great for conservation vs using animals to make money.
i think on the whole they are a good thing but it's sad to see some of the animals caged up - somehow i always end up staring into the eyes of a gorilla and it makes me sad.. but that isn't what struck me ... it's these things:.

Totally agree with OTWO. There's a German Circus in our area at the moment, it's large, and it has a lot of animals (elephants, tigers, camels, seals etc.). Although I would love to be in that atmosphere just one more time, for the smell and the triggering of childhood memories, I won't go. Because of the animals. I don't want to financially support a system that I don't approve of.

Hey buddy,
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Things will get better, promise! It's a universal law, like the tide... the down will turn into an up again. Just hang in there and you'll see it happening! And let your friends help you, by telling them how you feel and giving them a chance to comfort you! And go to a psychologist is a good advice also, I've done that and it's helped me enormously!
