@wasblind ofcourse what i did say is true. I am a living example of what i stated. I never forced my teenage son to do anything against his will, he is nearly 18 years old now. Ofcourse i tried to teach him some biblical moral values and love for our creator. But if he decides to live another life he is free to do so without any ´devastating´ consequences. My other son, still a todler, is raised with and is a huge fan of Caleb and Sparlock

Many say that JW kids are brainwashed and indoctrinated... well aren´t we all? Every kid is brainwashed and indoctrinated 18hrs a day at school, on tv, in clubs, by movies, popular video games, the neighbours, friends etc etc. Till now i am happy with the results of my childrens biblical education. The eldest one does not smoke, does not use drugs (which is legal in my country) is honest and shows perfect manners and respect to all kind of people. He truly thinks about the wellbeing of others and is a kind guy.

Many times parents of his schoolmates make me compliments about him and ask me how i accomplished that since their kids are so ´rebelious´.

I have many ´organized will´ books. Its up to a child to decide if he wants to become a publisher,... if he wants to get baptised,.. if he wants to do talks at the ministry school.

@wasblind ,.. i dont hate seeing people play with quotes.. i only said i dont play along and showing me quotes does not change that nor will it have any impact on me.

@jwfacts I do have children, they are free to decide themselves about what is best for them. They can leave without any devastating consequences. I am sure of that since i did the same when i was young (i grew up in the ´truth´ and left it when i was about 15 yrs old). When i was 38 yrs old, after seeing and studying many religions, i began studying with Jehovah´s Witnesses again. Few years later i became one of them. The only devastating consequences i faced when i was a youngster and during my 20´s were the bad habits and bad friends i picked up along the road of ´freedom´ out of the faith. Anyway since they are my kids and i am the parent,.. i do not really care what you or others think about how i raise and educate them.

finally i am not on this forum to discuss Witness doctrines. I just made a statement yesterday about how modern day witnesses look at ´old and very old´ literature.

@smiddy i never said or believed certain teachings could not be found elsewhere. For example, denial of the trinity and the denial of an immortal soul is as old as the doctrines itself. If other people like to join other groups or religions, so be it. I was happy to join the modern day witnesses. I think such choices are a personal and private matter and i dont feel the urge nor obligation to explain my those here on this forum.

Theists, why does God allow suffering..

..specifically, the suffering of animals.

you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.

i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

I am familiar with all kind of quotes... i have all volumes of the watchtower from 1879 till now even the Herald of the morning,.. all the old books, brochures, newspaper articles and debates , i have those. And i have seen people before firing lots of quotes and citations at eachother and its not a game i will play.

Simply because Russell is not important to me or to the JW's. He was the one who started the process and we thank him for that. Its great to know that there is no trinity,.. no immortality of the soul and no Hell etc etc.

Russell never claimed to be a inspired prophet or without any failures or mistakes. He was just a human as much as i and you are. He is just a person who started a process of digging and searching for bible truths. He himself dug up some nice things , like the teaching of the mortality of the soul,.. the firehose on Hell to name a few. Furthermore he saw the need to spread the word all over the world and made a start. But having that said,.. he still had a lot of things to learn, to discover and to lighten up.

His writings ( i have the old studies of the scripture volumes in print myself) are pretty much outdated and irrelavant. Collectors items and sometimes even funny to read. But we owe him thanks for starting up a process. That process is still ongoing.

some JW's would read older stuff because they collect as much WTBTS literature as the can.. they are collectors. But other JW's never ever feel the need to read the old stuff. They know what can be expected in the old stuff.

why using a tablet at the platform during the meeting?

i can't understand why the governing body aka fds has to deside about using a tablet by the speaker at the platform.. why using a tablet anyway at the platform?.

just a toy to keep the youth inside the congregation.. gorby.

@Abible Student It has nothing to do with printing costs. Also printing operations will not be discontinued. As a matter a fact in the next year (2014) the number of languages of printed literature will go up from 600 to about 1000 languages. And JW's have more than one video/audio studio already.

i did use it once before during a talk at the ministry school ,.. because my printer broke down that afternoon while printing my talk for that evening. So i was forced to improvise and brought my tablet. It went well and hardly anyone noticed.

Ooh and i am from the netherlands not the states
