  An Unsettling Experience

  in the year 2011, i was very ill with severe anxiety and panic attacks.. my psychiatrist prescribed two potent anti-depressants.. one day, when i was all alone, i heard a distinct voice say, "there are knives in the kitchen - small, medium, and large ...".

  the voice trailed off, but the meaning was clear: use one of those knives on yourself!.

  my niece in atlanta reported a similar experience when she was prescribed the same anti-depressants following a stillborn delivery.. i'm curious.. has anyone else experienced something like this?.

  But even educated, sophisticated persons fall prey to a very unfair and untrue type of propaganda. This type assumes a superior air of dismissal of an opponent's viewpoint, treating it as rather pathetic and really not worth attention. It is what many evolutionists resort to in order to evade questions that they cannot answer. They can't prove their theory. So they resort to making assertions, and they scoff at all who dare to dispute them.... They prove neither their assertions nor their smears, but by the tyranny of authority they pontificate their opinions, squelch objections and intimidate opposers. It works, and supposedly intelligent people who know nothing about the theory believe it because "all intelligent people believe it."....

  I like this quote too. Because there are accusing others of using it, but in fact using it themselves. With the big question at the end WHAT ABOUT YOU? It's ironic really, WT are the ones that can't prove their theory, or doctrine.

  I hear what you're saying good point. I also think that to keep them in they must use some intellectual intimidation. What do you think of my example in my post 3873?

  Jehovah has given us his living Word, the Bible. With this tool, we can prove that what we say can be trusted and comes from God. That is why when Paul was training Timothy, he encouraged him to handle “the word of the truth aright.” ( 2 Timothy 2:15 ) How can we apply Paul’s counsel? By carefully choosing the scriptures we will read to others. Our goal is to touch the hearts of those who listen to us. The tracts we received in 2013 were designed to help us do that. Aug 2014 WT

  I think this is an example. They are saying to all JWs that the GB are the scholars and JWs aren't able to carefully pick out scriptures themselves.

  Anyone agree, am I right?

  OTWO, I must have read it in CoC page 198. Thanks for that. I have just been googling intellectual intimidation with Steve Hassan and got the same Truth be told video you did.

  So WTS pull up all these Hebrew and Greek words in a full page explanation using complex jargon to convince the reader that the bible does say "organization" but in its own way.-Emery

  Thanks for this example. I don't suppose you can find out the WT reference for me. I don't have the CD rom, and the WT library doesn't go that far back.

  I have only read CoC, do you think I could have come across the the term intellectual intimidation in that book?
