  Does WT use intellectual intimidation in publications?

  when i first learned ttatt, i read loads all at once and tried to absorb everything.

  then i slowed down evaluated my priorities and took one step at time.

  now my kids know ttatt and i have set some goals in life, i am ready to take on my next project in my deprogramming.. intellectual intimidation.

  Thanks, I know I was love bombed that was emotional. WT also quote (or quote mine) professionals. Is this a form of intellectual intimidation? I don't know?

  Thanks cassuk. I am on Freeminds website now, and still I am comming up empty. I know I read about intellectual intimidation somewhere. I remember what it is and I can recognise it, I just want a more comprehensive understanding of it.

  When I first learned TTATT, I read loads all at once and tried to absorb everything. Then I slowed down evaluated my priorities and took one step at time. Now my kids know TTATT and I have set some goals in life, I am ready to take on my next project in my deprogramming.

  Intellectual intimidation. I am sure I have read about it. I went back to jwfacts.com and couldn't find anything.

  What exactly is intellectual intimidation?

  Do you think WT uses intellectual intimidation?

  Have you got any examples?

  when rutherford assumed the presidency of the watchtower society he instituted series of sweeping changes to the teachings and practices of the bible students.

  some of these changes were at complete odds with what had been taught previously.

  a key example was the elevation of the watchtower society as "god's visible organization on earth".

  These days, financial viability is more important than growth.-jwfacts

  It is certainly all about the money, but donuthole made a point about loyalty too. I have noticed this a lot in the publications and talking to JWs that loyalty to the GB and the organisation is imperative. WT make loyalty sound like such a virtue to control JWs. Loaded language.

  I am not so sure about the mass exodus though, I think too many are trapped and can't escape.

  i think she is a hypocrite and i bet she sells her invites to fornicators, or does she ask them if they are having sex before marrige, before she takes their money?.

  i was never like this when i was a jw, it's even more disturbing that she is going to ask her elders what to do.

  What if all shops refused them business?

  This is the point of the thread. Businesses are not allowed to discriminate full stop. And, as I keep saying she is a hypocrite, she is not refusing based on her faith. She is doing business with fornicators.

  Had a 7 year break, but still believed it was "the truth" until I learned TTATT at 39.

  i was called into a meeting by one of the department managers last week.

  i had a meeting this morning.. anyway, to cut a long story short.

  the people involved in this will be called into a private meeting and spoken to.

  Well we've got big supermarket wars here in the UK. The likes of Tesco, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsburys are all doing their bit to keep customers, and it's unusual that a JW would work in one of these as they would be expected to work on meeting nights and Sundays.

  I suspect this JW is a right pain in the neck if she won't do her fair share and insists on working shifts where there are the least amount of customers. The boss is just waiting for an excuse.

  Jws are not supposed to be NATIONALISTIC....right?

  so, 'we' as jws are not supposed to be nationalistic or promote individual countries or cultures over another....isn't that correct?.

  so, why do witnesses love to have "international" conventions where we see delegates all proudly wearing the stereotyped clothing of their native lands?.

  arent witnesses supposed to be part of gods nation, separate from the world, speaking the "pure language"?.

  Why wear all this nationalistic clothing? It doesn't promote unity, it promotes disunity!-stuckinarut

  It's not reallly nationalistic, I would say it's national dress. I see it promoting individualism, and variety. This is rare for WT, and it's a front. I don't find it causes any kind of divisions. I am with DM, it's more cultural than nationlistic. But having the convention is divisive because they teach that outside the RC everyone else is not serving the true God and is wicked.
