HELP! Elder bombarded me with scripture...& I don't know what to do.

i have been lurking on this site for many years.

i rarely post anything, because my english isnt the best and not sure if anyone understands.

i just recently had a run in with an elder, have not seen him in a few years.

Evolution and spirits

as of now iam making an unbiased examination of evolution.

however one thing keeps me hanging on to the belief of a supreme spirit being; the existence of spirits.

i have heard countless accounts of people who have experienced frightening encounters with evil forces.

The thread is about evolution and spirits cofty. If a person has had an experience they can believe in both as they are not mutually exclusive. I was just responding to Ceades post as he did not know what concrete and abstract thinking is.

You have made a wrong assumption about my beliefs. I don't believe in ghosts. You don't know what concrete and abstract thinking is. Changing your mind does not mean you're an abstract thinker. I am afraid you're mistaken about a lot of things in my post and sadly I did not post clearly enough to help you see my perspective.

Abstract thinking is a skill that adults develop. It's the ability to read between the lines with out all the evidence. The ability to have dicernment about a particular situation or topic and draw conclusions based on limited information. Concrete thinking is black and white thinking. Only drawing conclusions if you can see them. The world is not black and white, showing understanding for a variety of people and situations requires abstract thinking, we can't always see everything, so we need the ability to read between the lines and teach our children to do the same.

was expelled out because she participated in more than one porn videos with classmates in the school and theses videos became public.

she is 14 years old and grew up as witnesses.but anybody knows she had many boyfriends and she-, but that thing was unbelievable!

There are two big problems here that are seperate.

1. Consensual child porn. This is a big problem like FHN quite rightly states. School children are experimenting with sex and with access to video phones they are recording everything and sending eacother inappropriate pictures. This needs to be adressed in schools just like drugs or bullying. I am sure some schools would have already had an assembly or two about it.

2. Child dfing. This is also a big problem, a childs whole fututre can be shaped by shunning and isolation. This punisment will not bring any rich rewards, all teenagers need there trusted friends and family more than ever or they will seek friendship with inappropriate people wanting to take advantage of them.

Despicable crazy people

there are some mental illnesses which come with the potential for extreme violence.

i'm not talking the sociopath here who kills without remorse, but those mentally ill people while in the throes of their delusions who are driven to kill.

the outcomes can be horrific.. on december 6, 1989, a lone gunman gunned down fourteen women at a montreal college.

There does seem to be countries that allow mental patients slip through the net, especially if they start to become unwell and have no support system around them. The UK seems to be failing theor patients too. Kate xx

Exactly my point. There was a perfect point that I found myself critically thinking the facts. But the video does not promote critical thinking, at the most common sense part of the video to promote it. I checked out the point from a number of sources and determined it was factual, this movement does not promote critical thinking as they claim, they have another more incidious agenda in my view. Don't insult my intelligence I have read the FB page, the agenda isn't hidden.

That's just an unmeasureable claim. Evidence is subjective, personal experience can be considered as evidence. Evidence to me is different to evidence to you.

Hahaha is that your best response, you make me laugh cofty. Sometimes personal experience is enough for some people and evidence to them is solid. Plenty of people just believe in everything, and it's no big deal cofty.

Well I disagree with them about the fact they promote critical thinking, the 10 minute video had a perfect section to promote two views. See if you can work it out, but instead it presented everything as fact. Critical thinking is about taking in information and reasonably criticising the information and looking at other independent sources to back up what you have learnt.

This movement presents everything as fact leaving no room for criticism. Like I said I would rather watch evolutionary biology by a source without an agenda.
