I 'friend' doesn't put conditions on their friendship. This is a very conditional group you're in (I know, I just left it). Keep both eyes and your mind open and alert.

New here...(my story and a request for help)
by stephaniesays ini was raised in the organization.
my stepfather was a ministerial servant but was removed when i was 14, due to family problems, which he blamed on me (he was abusive, physically, and was told that if he cannot control his family, he could not be an example to the congregation).
i became pregnant at 15 and have not really lived around my family since then.

This will be the first memorial i've ever missed - raised in it and used to tell all the fellow-faders i grew up with how important it is that they go. Guess the joke's on me, huh? It feels weird. My one-year anniversary of fading is approaching in a few weeks - no real contact with family in about that time (actually a little longer, i was always considered devil's spawn) and it still hurts. Gets better every day, but it still hurts. Programming's a bitch.

I too, have a stupid brother. If you want to contact him and hear his twisted thinking, use the address. If you want to go live your life in peace, file the address away. Do nothing with it. Do check on the will though - great advice. There could be more to it than you know. Sorry about your loss.

Alone at new years eve again
by Pleasuredome innew years eve 1996 was the last time i enjoyed a new years eve with a girlfriend.
even though i wasnt into celebtrating it in a major way because of the jw influence on my life, it was a really great time to be with someone i cared about.
1997 onwards i became involved with the jws and of course i couldnt become involved with a worldly girl, so i became celebate.

I'm new here and haven't posted very much - hopefully, time off over the holidays will cure that!
Holidays are nonexistent when your in the borg (you guys know that) but it's real strange when you step out. I've got a long association, never baptised tho, and only recently stepped away from a lifetime of teachings (born into it). This is my first real Xmas, I skipped halloween ('cause it was too weird), so I totally understand where you're coming from. I did drunken New Years in my teens & 20s, but as an adult, that wears thin (and the hang overs are harder to handle!) I get by with a little help from my friends, as the song goes, so please just be kind to yourself. I know i'm still very wounded and it takes double time to heal from emotional abuse/wounds. I hope you manage to have some fun over the holiday. Don't make a big deal out of it, but do something that you enjoy. Buy a great bottle of wine or whatever your thing is. Start your own tradition and hopefully, when you get attached, you can continue and expand. Try not to over-think on the dogma - it's so destructive!

Clothes. Teenage girls love CLOTHES. Give them a gift-certificate to some trendy boutique in your area. They'll love.
