Judged for having too much money; for taking a pioneer couple, who had nothing, on vacation with us and paying their way; for having a gold ring on my left hand as well as right; for having guns; for driving a Lincoln and not a Chevrolet like everyone else (they went apoplectic when I bought my wife a Mercedes); for quoting other Bible translations in my talks..... oh it could go on and on.

Have the dubs found another way to make money? Perhaps this is the reason behind the push for those bloodless hospital facilities.

I had a funny feeling he was a Witness... and now I need help.
by noontide inim in a bit of a bind and im not quite sure what (if anything) i can do about it.
i was recently hired as a business consultant for a rather large company.
the company that hired me mentioned that they are concerned about a certain department and the way its being run, as this department affects every other department in the company.

I don't know where you live, but in the US religion may not enter into any employment considerations. You must not for your own sake discuss the JW connection lest you get involved in an EEOC complaint. Dubs live to beat the persecution drum.
Perhaps you need to be more direct with the fellow. Make a list of the perceived failings and the road to correction. If he shows no willingness to make correction, you know what you need to do.

The REAL reason for the elder and ms appointment change......
by EndofMysteries inas seen in recent posts, beginning later this year appointments and deletions of elders and ms will only happen through the circuit overseer.
this means that individual congregations and elders have no say anymore.
if the gb want only certain people in or out, they tell the co and he makes it happen.

I still believe that Crooklyn will somehow be involved. Perhaps the CO will send something to them as he does now. They will correspond with him and then he notifies the congo of the appointment. Being the contol junkies they are I can't see them giveing up control completely.

Letter to BOE: Adjustment in process for appointing elders and ministerial servants

Under the present arrangement, the elders meet with the CO and make a recommendation. If the CO is against this it won't happen, either he will get the local brothers to back off or he will kill it through his letter of dissent to Crooklyn. So in reality this arrangement has been in effect since the elders arrangement went into effect.
I think this is a smoke screen by Brooklyn, a legal manuver to still some potential lawsuits and to distance themselves from the local yocals who seem to keep screwing up. I would look for the appointment letter to come from the branch after approving the action. They won't admit this procedure exists of course. We'll see what the Washtowel has to say as to procedure and any subsquent letters from the Bethel CIA (Service Dept).
Salheart: Yes when the elders arrangement went into effect all had to be reappointed as elders or MS. There was quite a lot of wrangling that went on in the meetings held to decide who did or didn't qualify as an elder. It was an interesting experience to say the least.

FYI, links to photos of jw.org signs on top of WT buildings
by AndersonsInfo inyesterday, on the thread i started on 4/15/14, http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/279088/1/essay-by-barbara-anderson-whats-in-a-name#.u1e98jao7l9 that introduces a recent article i wrote which is posted on www.watchtowerdocuments.org , i thought i made an inaccurate statement in one of my posts about wt having a sign, jw.org, on the top of one of their buildings.
i was sure i had seen a photo of such a sign but couldn't prove it until last night when proof was sent to me in an email and the proof is to be found in the form of links to photos of the sign.
i was wrong in thinking the sign was on a wt factory building.

Isn't it interesting that things they used to vilify are now so valuable to them? Internet, video, credit card machnes, compter devices, all are part of the arsenal of the worship beefore the Watchtower altar. Yet it hasn't been so long ago that all were castigated soundly in the publications and from the platform.

"the u.s. supreme court turned away an appeal from a new mexico wedding photographer found to have violated a state anti-discrimination law when she refused to take pictures of a commitment ceremony for a same-sex couple.. the photographer, elaine huguenin, argued unsuccessfully that she was being unconstitutionally forced to convey a message conflicting with her religious beliefs.

This isn't a thread about gay choices, etc. That debate will go on and on ad nauseam depending on the side of the fence chosen.
I'm more interested in the implications for dubs and their stand against working for chuches, etc.
Viviane - Wouldn't the SCOTUS not hearing the case in essence be making a ruling? We're not hearing the case as the lower court didn't err.

Viviane - Why in the world would it mean that?
If a JW refuses to work for a church because he does not want to be associated with them, isn't he discriminating because of religion?
While I haven't read the case law and I'm for certain no attorney, it makes me pause to consider all the ramifications this could possibly have.

According to Bloomberg news:
"The U.S. Supreme Court turned away an appeal from a New Mexico wedding photographer found to have violated a state anti-discrimination law when she refused to take pictures of a commitment ceremony for a same-sex couple.
The photographer, Elaine Huguenin, argued unsuccessfully that she was being unconstitutionally forced to convey a message conflicting with her religious beliefs. She was seeking to overturn a ruling against her company, Elane Photography LLC, by the New Mexico Human Rights Commission. The high court made no comment in rejecting the appeal."
While this case applies in New Mexico, does it mean that Joe Eldubwindowasher cannot refuse to wash windows on the Catholic church or the local military base?

Just wait, the Watchtower/Awake will quote him as an authority soon in some article they conjure up. Just as they quote previous WT articles to give credence to some stand they take. Circular reasoning at its' best.
