Yes, new hope, I would say so.
There is a big difference, though, between accepting a person as they are, no judging .......... and choosing to put up with their shyte!
You can love and accept someone, and not judge them, and still choose to avoid their company, which may be destructive, abusive, or just not your cup of tea. That's my philosophy on life.

That was cruel, Londo
Bloody earworms ............
i am sure people convery to a religion to find peace and spiritual awakening.
i also bet many convert simply for love.
would you to assist " true love" if it required converting to a particular faith?.
Actually, new hope, those are the two religions I find the 'least' offensive. And of course, being a Jew is embracing a culture, not just a religion. Many Unorthodox Jews are not very different from church-on-Sunday Christians on the scale of 'devout'. At this point, though, 20+ years later, I could not do it.

an odd letter was read at last nights' meeting.
it was in regards to a special campaign for next year arranged by the governing body to go and preach in israel.
the call is going out to anybody that speaks hebrew and english.
Yeah, I wouldn't be going to Israel. My little fantasy of "Eretz Israel" was shattered when my friend arrived back in Canada. Luckily, it was only a 'flesh wound'.
I remember when friends where in Ivory Coast and Liberia. The one in Liberia had to come home quickly, it was a real 'hot spot'. The b'Org really cares nothing for their people.
They are only getting bad pubilcity atm re the sex abuse scandals, so are looking for a way to appear holy, I guess. Imagine the fundy Xtians in the south - look at the JWS, going to help those JEWS!

in genesis 9:22, it says, "ham saw his fathers (noah) nakedness.
" over the years i have heard many theories of waht that meant.
leviticus 18:8...20:11...and 20:20-21 says.
Well, duh! How do you think Adam & Eve had grandchildren?

Nope, I wouldn't prostitute myself for anything. I had thought of converting to Judaism at one point, but the rel'ship fell through. But hey, a nice Jewish boy, a shiksa should BE so lucky! :D

a poster on another thread reminded me of when there was a 15 min.
break between the talk and the wt study on sundays.
the break was supposed to be to allow jw's time to drive their bible studys home from the talk.
As I recall, the 'reason' was so that those worldly TM people who attended the Public Talk could say their goodbyes, as the WT study was mainly for the JWs themselves.
It was also a great opportunity to put a few welts on the rear ends / legs of fidgety kids like me, to ensure that they would SIT STILL during the WT study. Break time sucked for me. ;)

for fans of older pc games:.
http://glenster1.webs.com/freepcpinballmodsforlo.htm.
it includes carmageddon 1 and 2.. http://www.carmageddon.com/.
glenster, do you remember the first D&D for computers? It was on DOS, and text only - you had to draw your own map. :P I worked for a softwae consultant on the F-18, and we had 22 young engineers, most of them from the RMC (Royal Military College here in Canada),. They were soooo into it! We had one wall of my office papered, and all played the game, charting the 'dungeons'. Mid-80s, and omg now I feel old.

OC - two points.
Non-Jews who are tourists, do not have to serve in the Israeli army. They are tourists. EDIT: I don't know if it's true now, but I had a friend who visited Israel in the 80s, and he was an Orthodox Jew who had a visa to stay, I think it was 2 years. As soon as he arrived and was through Customs, he was conscripted! Within 2 weeks, he was shot by a tracer bullet, hospitalized, and returned to Canada. SO, yeah, if you are Jewish, that may be a possibility.
The paper you quoted has some really awesome stuff, but it is about 1st Amendment rights - ie, people serving in the US, "where the need is greater" TM , not missionairies who were/are sent abroad from the USA. We do not want to be like the WTS and quote things 'out of context' in order to make a point.
