had a coversation with a very close friend (of 15 years) and understands how i feel about the wt org.

he himself is a serious doubter.

i on the other hand am not a doubter, i know with every living ounce of myself that this is a cult!

I hope that you two can stay friends. He sounds like a 'keeper'.

So sorry that you are going through the marital dischord that this religion foments. I hope your wife can learn TTATT, and hey, keep that friend. Some day, the two of you may be out and free together. If not, he may need your support in the future --- we can't judge others for staying "in", especially if they would have to leave family behind. I can testify that it is a hard road, depending on your circumstance, to have no family.

it seems like the list of people who are accusing him of rape and sexual assault is growing every day.

i'm skeptical of single accusations but the number of people and the similar stories seem overwhelming now.. it's not a conviction but to the court of public opinion ... guilty?.

Well, there ya go! Anecdotal 'evidence' (in tune with JWN's legalistic tone), but that says it all.

DJS - whatever, you are speaking your mind, and it makes sense. Let the naysayers spout their drivel about their beloved idol, but what you say, is an honest opinion, not coloured by race or any other agenda. I agree.

After all is said, this is a sordid incident, and I'm glad that yet another RAPIST is revealed. I was 'roofied' in Vegas in 1980, and anyone who thinks that all these women are coming forward for 'fame' or 'money' can eat my shorts (as Bart Simpson would say)!

candace conti has held out from taking a settlement from the wtb&ts which would require a gag order .

I made a good 'witness' today to a couple of sisters TM who had a stand at the bus terminal. They asked me if I had internet at home, and suggested I look up the JWS online. Well, that is when Candace Conti became the topic of discussion!

It was my turn to express happiness that they were also online, and I directed them to look up C-a-n-d-a-c-e C-o-n-t-i. Yes, I spelled it out for them! When the younger (obviously born-in) one knowingly and sadly shook her head, and the older said "oh yes, there are a lot of lies out there, and our elders ALWAYS report child abuse. That's just not true.". I then explained that I was a 4th generation JW and one of my own friends was molested by an elder's son, yadda yadda.

Anyhow, thank you Candace Conti! You have given all of us, a concrete case, a reference point (for lack of a better term to describe the tremendous sacrifice you have made) to 'hand over' to any JW who is online. That is a major thing, and you are helping so many people. I thank you personally, as an adult survivor myself, and send you much love and healing energy.

sparrowdown - the Power of One - I had not thought of that expression in a long time, and many thanks for the reminder. That will help me in my personal struggles at the moment.

Feeling sad over a wasted life in watchtower

it's been 12 years since i first read ray franz's books and the scales came off my eyes.

by that time i was in my forties.. since 2002 i went back to school and have worked with 3 very professional organizations.

but my biological clock is ticking away and while my peers are looking forward to retirement, i am only beginning.

Some losses are greater than others. The loss of our childhood and early youth is huge. Hey, bitterness is merely repressed sadness and hurt. It's nothing to feel ashamed of - rather, recognize it has good cause, and then you can deal with it. It takes time and work.

Let those feelings out, in whatever way works for you (healthy ways). You might want to smash something, well okay, take a hammer to that old VCR that is sitting in the garage and doesn't work. You may have pent-up rage (I did). Maybe you like to pump iron, that is a natural high. Crying is a physical release of emotion - it's a good thing. Cry in the shower - it's private and feels womblike. Writing about how you feel is dealt with in a special way by our brains, and can be therapeutic, too.

:)

Mostly, know that your feelings are real, own them and know it's okay.

I try to think of de-ah Miss Scah-lett, when she said "After all, tomorrow is another day!"

It's okay to feel how you are feeling; grieving is a process.

Just to clarify, if I post a picture using my facebook url, is that traceable to my facebook account? Or the account's e-mail?

I use Photobucket myself, but f/b would be much easier, and I ask for others' benefit, too. Lots of folks like myself, who can use a bit of help.

It took me a while to figure out Photobucket, as it was uncommon ground and illness/pain makes me stupid sometimes. ;) It's been quite humbling.

Also, they made it easier. Photobucket is easy to use, if anyone is wondering. It's me, not them... :P
