the other day the glass in my oven door exploded and sent glass into the next room, fortunately i wasn't peering in at the time.
about a year go the previous oven door shattered one morning.
the oven was cold.
My microwave exploded about 3 years ago.
May I just say that DANBY makes really cheap appliances, and as a review : don't buy their product! Nuff said.
I would be to 'die' to have an awesome propane stove. *sigh*
:) Oh, I no longer have a microwave. I steam my veggies the old-fashioned way. ; )
About 10 years ago, I *did* get a burn from my stove. Electric, 220 wiring, it was not working right. When cleaning it, I got a shock and burnt my belly. FINALLY, the slumlord had a small appliance man out, and he said ' lucky that's all you got '...........sheesh. Yeah, be careful .. when they get old and shorting out, can be VERY dangerous! xx
jehovah's witnesses announced today the use of hover boards to spread the good news of the kingdom.
in a statement released by a jehovah's witness spokesman from brooklyn headquarters.
he set out the use of this revolutionary technology.
I can see it now, in the swamps of FLA and LA,,,,,, preaching to the gators!
ahahaha!
continuing a topic that is dear to my heart because of my experience as both a shunner and a shunnee .... some people seem to get very agitated when i talk about the responsibility people have to make the right choices and that despite all the wrongs within the wts, people themselves have a role to play and some personal responsibility for the experience.. notice i said "some" responsibility, not "complete" - this doesn't absolve the wts for the things they do wrong in any way shape or form.
so please don't get argumentative about possible meanings and absolutes - of course the wts has a significant role to play but we need to decide what we're trying to achieve here and why the personal choice is so important.. i'm also not talking about actual crimes that the wts should answer for.
if they cover up child abuse for instance, they absolutely should be reported immediately.
Xan, i recently found out that my mother entered a mental institution, when I finally said "enough!" (albeit in a kind way) to her shunning.
As I said to my room mate "I guess she couldn't handle it when the truth came up and slapped her in the face."
You are absolutely correct!
xx

I think there are are least two types of people who shun. There are those that do it because of brainwashing, WT and family pressure - they suffer a lot of remorse, because they are 'forced' to go against their natural instincts. I empathize and feel sorrow for them.
Comversely, we have the natural sociopaths and narcissists, the abusers, who USE the WT, as do pedophiles, as a cover-up and excuse for their own inclinations towards abuse. They deserve to be exposed for what they are: abusers hiding in a cult, who find easy victims in their children, mates and 'friends'.
If you have a mother/father/family like that, don't feel guilty because you can't 'forgive' them. In the JWS, as in any cult or closed group, sociopaths will thrive. Be HAPPY they are not part of your life. Realizing this, makes it easier to see and forgive those true 'sheeple' who are just naive, and to know that the 'brothers and sisters' who were kind to YOU when you were growing up, were sincere. Does that make any sense?
tal ; )
i don't refer to anything sexually explicit of course.. i mean, in general.
do you dream of owning a big house, a football team, the perfect body.......er paradise earth?.
i'll start:.
To the OP.
I daydream about living in the country.
:)
EDIT: The best daydreams (imho) are those that may be achieved. I am working towards rehabbing my foot so that I may be able to live in a location that I already have planned ..... a co-operative organic farming community. It's a 'doable' goal!
Dream the possible! xoxo
whats worse than being an adult jw?
when i was a kid i always had a bad concience all the time.
i believed i would not survive armageddon for the fact that i didn't like going to service and i didnt like going to the meetings.
Like Sofia Lose, I grew up surrounded by JW family. But my remembrances of it are not fond.
It was okay (except for the meetings and beatings) until I reached school. That was when my depression really started. Being tortured at school and home (sibling), not being allowed to excel, no friends. The JW kids didn't like me because I was a 'goody 2 shoes', and the worldly kids, well some of them wanted to be friends, but ahahaha, RIGHT! And let's not forget the "Malawi torture nightmares".
The only place to 'achieve' was the TMS and assembly work. I fled as soon as I was old enough. I was never a JW adult, but if I had stayed with it ... I just can't imagine the drudgery and servitude. Sad, so sad.
the us elections suck up all the attention (and it's not even at the candidate selection stage!
) but canada actually has a national election today.. first results are starting to come in and so far it's all liberal party.. i think it's time harper and the conservatives got the boot.
last premiere from the bush era.
omg, I can't believe it OC! Just checked CBC and ALL of eastern Canada is Red. I know a lot of NDP people who planned to vote Liberal, for fear that the West would carry Harper, and voting NDP would split the vote. HOLY SMOKE.
Let's hope it's a majority gov't, because if it's not, there will be WAR in Parliament. hahaha!
So, it's been a slice, but I only get 5 posts per day, so I'm outta here.

For the Provincial and Federal elections, I work the polls. The early polls were flooded. They weren't prepared, and I got called in to work 4 extra days, on the first afternoon. It was crazy busy.
I just got home from counting the votes at the polling station I worked here in Eastern Canada, and our polling station was a very close race between the NDP incumbent and the Liberal challenger. PC only got about 5% of the vote. The Greens and Marxist-Leninist parties got 1-2%. Factor in that there are a lot of seniors and students at this station, and the Trudeau factor is HUGE.
I don't have TV, but am thinking that CBC probably has a live stream online, so I'm gonna go check now.
I haven't read the whole thread, and will do so now,,,,,, is Newfoundland Blue or Red? haha, our returns are probably on TV! must ... check it out!

*this has been a non-partisan report from the front lines* haha, I love Election Day! can ya tell, I get so wound.. drinking a hot cocoa to relax.
Still voting out west, and our polls have been closed for almost 3 hours --- what a country. : ))
so, if lying or being deliberately misleading is a "disfellowshipping" offence, why haven't the brothers who lied to the australian royal commission been brought before a judicial committee?
?.
KateWild - It's all a sham and dependent on your status with the elders
Katewild. Perfect statement to describe a JC. It is who you know, your status and which family you belong to.
Precisely! And coming from a 'status' family can work to your disadvantage, if your family wants to make an example of you.
