Atheists and Christmas
by nicolaou inyes, we can enjoy christmas!.
we can put up and decorate a xmas tree, wrap and give presents and get the whole section of non-jw family round for a big turkey dinner with all the trimmings - yum!.
we don't feel guilty about getting time off work and relaxing in front of all those cheesy xmas movies (baby's day out is still my favourite).. so if, unlike me, you want to frame your festivities in a story of a magical baby go right ahead, this thread isn't about belief bashing.. whatever your definition of the 'true meaning of christmas', mine is just as valid; it's the celebration of my freedom, my ability to choose how to live my life and who to share it's joys with.. so let this rabid, godless, antichrist of an atheist wish you all a very merry christmas!

Merry Xmas! It will be a full moon on Xmas Eve, so the festivities here may be lit by Gaia, unless it's snowing. Let the revelries begin. : )

Speaking of fashion, and smiddy, I recall the leisure suits, my dad had one. I told him he looked like the guy from "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom!" ...haha, so glad those went out of style - oh, and remember polyester suits? ahaha, plaid? Anyhow, I remember when i first started working, I bought a fancy suit of 'hot pants', I was 12 going on 24. ahaha they are now back in style.
Ah, the old John Lennon glasses, I have a couple pair, but the lenses are 'Janis blue'. *Pearl*

The one I never got ........ Beards. It reminds me of the navy. You can only have a beard when you are non-com or pfc or whatever, if your CO gives you permission (good luck with that). Beards. Go figure. -

I am old enough to remember when we offered householders the opportunity to purchase Awake and Watchtower gift subscriptions for others throughout December.
Me, too. We all had subscriptions, and as a kid, it was a BIG DAY when they arrived in the mail. I mean, my very OWN study copy of the Watchtower (TM) addressed to little ME. wow!
I clearly recall that a 'selling point' was that, like porn, they came in a plain brown wrapper, so when selling subscriptions, we could assure the householder that their neighbours would not know they were receiving the JW literatrash.

Going to see Star Wars:The Force Awakens - What are you seeing?
by fulltimestudent inthis is not an attempt to 'straightjacket' anyone into a fixed interpretative perspective.
so set your mind free and see satan and his demons if you reallynwant to adopt a possible jw perspective.
or, just sit back and watch the show and the trick affects if you want.. or like the uk guardian you could see the movie in terms of dysfunction (personal and family).. quote: the original movies were always based on the most extraordinary nexus of personal and family dysfunction: a motor of guilt, shame and conflict.

Agreed. Of course the nature of films changes with the decades to reflect changes in society. If not, they wouldn't sell. She is 'digging deep'. : P -

LovesUni - yup, just like fairy tales. Violent, they were, and have been altered in recent generations so that they don't resemble the originals very much.
Ummm, ships are always referred to as "She".
Right, Leia was a princess - who had the loyalty of the droids C3PO and R2D2. It was she who sent the holographic message to Obiwan. Leia! She fought side-by-side with her brother, Luke, and Han. I kinda thought she was a strong character myself, and at 18, that was new to me; except for Wonder Woman on TV and in comic books, we had few female fighters/heroes.

Growing up as a Jehovah's Witness, I had friends who were hearing impaired. The thing is about these Witnesses, they treat the hearing impaired like they are children. All of my friends who grew up JW, have left the religion because they wanted to be treated like NORMAL ADULTS.
It sounds to me like these 'sisters' are offering you what they consider help, while taking advantage (your bank account was overdrawn? No more automatic deposits for rent, okay?). They do NOT consider you their equal. You are someone they are 'helping' ,,,,,,,,,,,
I suggest you leave the JW behind forever, and you are in your early 30s now? Lots of time to start a new life with people who will treat you as a normal person, instead of 'less than'..

If you bothered to read the link, you wouldn't have asked this:
no on the contrary I'd love to make a contribution or pay a reasonable price for the books, I certainly wont be paying £100 a copy on ebay or Amazon, though, but how long will it be when the printing is resumed? how long is a piece of string?
because Cynthia said this:
I am presently considering three different routes to publishing Crisis of Conscience. I hope to make a decision within days and plan to publish within weeks. Please stay tuned on what I am doing. I plan to update this webpage with the latest information concerning the publishing of Raymond Franz works in print, Kindle and electronic formatting. I plan to work very hard to make Crisis of Conscience available to everyone that would like to have a copy.Furthermore, she also explains, in clear detail, that it took about 18 months for the transfer of copyright through the Library of Congress. Then, she was gravely ill for 6 months. NOW she is finally able to address this matter of theft.
The reason she is accepting contributions is also explained in the link. Do you have reading comprehension issues? HMMMM?
Perhaps you could read the link instead of running your mouth.
Do you need translation?
