What was your ''the last straw that broke the camels back'' moment

there is a limit to how much straw (long yellow grass) a camel can carry on its back.

if you keep putting more straw on top, it will finally break the camel's back.

when you are at the last straw you are finally angry and will not take any more.. my moment (to stop attending all watchtower meetings) was after the harsh treatment from the elders and fellow congregation members of my second cousin who was disfellowhipped as a teenager.

One of my friends hung himself - 17, secretly gay and a cross dresser in an ultra conservative town (I was "serving where the need was greater" TM). Single mom, rabid JW, mid-1970s. He was missed, so we went to his room to find him.

john cedars has posted his latest blog "the trouble with apostates (and why it shouldn't put you off becoming one)".

i acknowledge that he is entitled to his opionin just as we are ours but i am disappointed in some of his comments.. at this stage i'll try to be objective about it.

he is defending his own position after all.. what bothers me most is his comments about athiests and christians which he seems to identify as being in conflict with each other.

Adult Coloring Books

anybody take up coloring?

i got lost ocean by johanna basford and i got another coloring book mandalas and more.

i just use crayola colored pencils and some gel pens and thin tipped markers.

I have some free pages bookmarked; fantasy art. It's good practice for painting, too. I'll use my water colour pencils. Wanting to do some sci-fi fantasy stuff, and I can experiment with colour mixing and technique. I usually do butterflies, flowers, and comic book art, and the fantasy art is going to be different, especially with light effects and the pictures in my head.(which is a scary place to be, at times hehe).

Also, depending on the paper / card stock you use for printing, you can use other media, like acrylics, water colour washes, etc. Even traceable onto canvasboard, if you want to use oils.

And I have a new box of Crayolas that I am dying to use! : P

EDIT: PF, I do that with the weekend newspaper. B&W ads, etc. After the crossword is done, doodle some of the pages. yup.

You're welcome, Xan. : D When I came back to read, I had done that, and though my first 'novel' was true, it connoted negativity (within me); the second is more about how I really do see myself, and I had been reminded of deciding to choose happiness. I'm real happy that my thoughts helped get you into the same more positive groove. xx

PS. Actually, I have a Phoenix quilt, all basted and ready to finish - I must get that done! It's been >6 years in a trunk, waiting to 'rise'. ; )

i just watched this clip on youtube....i can't begin to say how it made me feel.

, i'm not sure who i am more annoyed about.

the bloke doing the commentry, the punk shouting at a serious and should be respectful religious event, or some of the youtube comments that follow.. and i find this so disrespectful.

Is this vid about activism? I think not. I think it is about personal venting, and would not call this person an activist. This type of ridicule usually makes people defensive, and strengthens their persecution complex.

It's like these so-called peace activists who are ANGRY. Really? An angry peace activist. That's a bit of an oxymoron, and no one really is inspired to peaceful action by someone spouting vicious bile. It clouds the issues, and directs attention to the self-proclaimed activist, rather than solving the problem. LOOK AT ME! I AM ACTIVIST AND CAN SHOUT YOU DOWN. Puh-leeze!
