Never mind. I think it's off-topic, and just my opinion. Take care. -

Disfellowshipped for celebrating Xmas?
by Theburstbubble ini could really do with some advice on what's acceptable when you leave.
we have left of our own accord about 6 months ago.
we didn't celebrate xmas this year but have just celebrated my daughters birthday.. a friend of mine who is still a witness told me that an elder had approached her and asked if we had celebrated xmas and that if we did it was a df offence as is classed as apostasy!

They will just say it is not a "real" recording or transcript. It's photo shopped or fake. That's what was said here by a local Eldub.
DOC - precisely.
This was the response when I presented the facts (and the web locations) to my parents about the UN library card. One of their best elder friends owned a PC business; one of their close family members is a programmer, and they had easy access to the facts, but no dice. It was all a lie, and they wouldn't even bother checking, because it could not be true.

Q. Why is showing facts to a Jehovah's Witness like banging your head against a brick wall?
A. Because it feels so good when you stop.mwah haha!

Overlapping Generation
by pandorasbox1914 inthe september 2015 broadcast had david splane explain matthew 24:34 “truly, i say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place”.
his explanation of this scripture was by means of a chart to indicate an overlapping generation.. .
no scripture was used to show the overlapping generation concept, and as a result it makes no sense.. to illustrate how crazy this concept is, look at the lyrics of the song my generation.. my generation.

How you want to get disfellowshipped
by ivanatahan ini was inspired by an amazing topic i read earlier, particularly about what some people did when their shunning was announced.
how would you guys celebrate such an honor?
or, if you already have a great story to share about what you did during your announcement, please share!.

JW GoneBad Good one!
La petite mort is what the French call orgasm - "the little death". : ))
.
I wish I would have been more (hmmm, how to say it ... oh, yes) BRAZEN when I was younger. I would have dressed 'to the nines', stood up and said "NO. I disfellowshipped YOU years ago - too late, suckers!"
(I have 'hand' a la George Costanza)
(never said fukk until I was in my late 20s - cussing was considered declasse in my family, and it was real work, learning to swear when it's appropriate, so 'suckers': P ) -

John Nelson Darby (The Exclusive Brethren) did extensive preaching in New England and Canada during his later years. The language and belief system of that cult is so much like the JWS. is there evidence that Russell and he were connected, or that Russell borrowed some of his teachings?

Control - Whose worse, the JWs or the traditional churches?
by fulltimestudent inwe once experienced, the "you'll die at armegeddon," fear instilled into us as jw's.. was that worse or better than the fear of eternal torment instilled by more conventional religions?.
john spong gives his view.

Your words (if indicating hate) confirm their faith, so when ex-witnesses talk 'hate' they (JWs), recalling the words of Jesus, shut down their thought processes and recall only what Jesus said - been there, done that !!!!
ExJWs are not 'the world'.
We are survivors who were abused by the JWS.
Do I hate the people who raped me as a chlid? DAMN STRAIGHT That's called 'normal'..
Having been also spiritually raped, and physically abused, by the JW cult, it is perfectly natural that I hate it.
.
Do I tell JWS that? Why would I bother? I choose to vent here.
(haha, proofreading this and oops - did I split my infinitive? The horror!)

Did you get " Counseled " about the Music you Listened to While you were a JW ?
by flipper infrom the time i was a small boy - i loved rock n' roll music.
beatles, rolling stones, led zeppelin, hendrix.
i started getting slighted for the music i listened to as i lay in my bedroom listening on headphones to led zeppelin's song " black dog " at age 14 with my elder dad looking suspiciously at me as i'm rocking out .

JUMP! Roth is a arse, but loved his acrobatics. One of my fav bands as well. No one plays the ax like Eddie.
: P
Haha, simulpost, NN. I was replying to Beth's comment there.
Me, too. What a great dad he is. That was when I got interested in Simmons, and found out who he 'really' was. The whole womanizing thing - so what? who cares? I had previously not liked him (left over JW judging), but now realize that yup, he's a genius.
