I remember seeing that movie when it came out - it's a really good one. I was out of the cult by then, and didn't know the JWS had a problem with it. Now that I think about it, I did note it was very anti-JW, in that it showed the prison that we as JW kids, lived in. OTOH, how many 'worldly' people noticed?

How silly is that? In a real world sense, very silly! But oh ... my .... GAWD! The boy rebels and wants to go trick-or-treating? And have birthdays? He is a pawn of Satan, and any JW watching this movie will be infected by Satan's Hallowe'en spawn! LMAO

Organic food is BS. I had grandparents who lived on medieval farm surrounded by vineyards and peach orchards that my grandmother inherited. But it was my granduncle and his family who took care of the property and they supplied entire family with food product they grew. We had wine, butter, goat cheese, sausages, goose, bacon all from the farm. It was natural, produced without chemicals and tasty.

Kaik. Natural, produced without chemicals and tasty - that is organic! Organic means without pesticides, and using old seed, and REAL food, like butter, and whole milk.

Also, the term 'holistic' has been co-opted by a certain species of frauds and charlatans that offer crazy 'alternatives' to real medicine.

Holistic medicine, in the pure medical sense, infers treating the whole patient, factoring in lifestyle, eating habits, possibility of somatic illness. At least, that is how my GP feels - the mind and body are one - how we feel, does affect our physical health (many illnesses caused by stress, for example). That is holistic medicine. I found a good description on wiki............ The holistic concept in medical practice, which is distinct from the concept in the alternative medicine, upholds that all aspects of people's needs including psychological, physical and social should be taken into account and seen as a whole. A 2007 study said the concept was alive and well in general medicine in Sweden.

You can argue with anyone. With creationists, or g-d believers, you KNOW you can't use logic, because belief in a higher power is all about faith. Any so-called query that disingenuously says "prove God exists" is pure baiting, imo. If you want to prove how 'smart' you are, and how much you 'know', then yeah, go ahead and argue with a creationist. Try to make them feel dumb. Does that feel good? Whatever floats your boat.

Almost three months since Crisis of Conscience Cease and Desist

i am very interested in getting crisis of conscience being fully available as soon as possible.

march 12th will mark exactly three months since the cease-and-desist letter was written.. i understand that things are slow and that deborah may be sick, but i was just wondering if anyone knew the status.

i have been asked twice already where the book can be obtained in spanish and i have told people that the book is not available.. there are ways to make ebooks extremely hard to share.

You've been dating three months. Please, have a long talk with your parents, and understand that they fear losing you! Read experiences of the people on this forum, whose families have been torn apart by the Jehovah's Witness cult. Your parents' fear is real. There is a reason they do not like this religion.

I wasn't going to comment, but since you seem intent on pushing the point ... the man is obviously severely traumatized and can hardly speak without breaking down. I have to wonder if he is still in shock. Those are the words of a fresh victim, and emotionally charged.

You've really shown a good point - the gun lobby plays on people's fears, in addition to the usual "we're AMERICAN and it's in our Constitution!" Whoop-tee-doo. You live by a 250 YO statement about how the citizenry may need to have a militia in case the government is ruling by tyranny and must be stopped.

Uh, hello! Anyone who DOES stockpile weapons, and wants overthrow the government is considered a domestic terrorist - the American people have no power. You think a handgun will prevent government takeover of anything? ahahahaha! Sheeple.

GodZoo, I get your point in a general way, but looking at this specific review, and its irrational, disconnected spewing of hate, it seems to me that it's most likely what Punk suspects. It's neither constructive nor is it artistic criticism. It is more like hate speech.

I've had many people like my sculptures, and sold 100++. Not everyone loves them, that is true. If someone said my sculptures looked like something you could buy at the $$ store, manufactured by the thousands, and were poorly crafted, copies of XXX artist, I just *might* feel the need to vent.

Especially if I suspected *that* person was the failed artist, that couldn't pay people to take his work, who would do / say anything to put me down. (edit, and it's very hurtful)

That's my take on Punky's rant.
