introduction to daniel - for fun and prophet.
when i was a dubbie, i considered reading the bible books to be a major and boring chore, mainly because i was required to believe all that stuff i was reading.
trying to make sense out of nonsense is always a frustrating chore.
Speaking of Daniel ...
various dutch (netherlands) media mentioned the anti-gay children movie on jw.org,.
and gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual organizations are shocked, and some gay people.
are reporting the movie to the local police.. the official spokesman of the dutch branch office in emmen declared that the movie is.
This is what a secular media does - publishes the truth about religion and child abuse. The twitter comments in one of the articles show that this is just not acceptable. Once again, the Dutch lead the world in doing what's right.
I liked this quote from the last article - a *real* professional's opinion re the powerful effect this vid can have on children.
[bold is mine]
What does such a film with a child?
Herald Hofmeijer's teacher and think the film has an impact on children."That's because of the many colors and cartoons: there are children, and that gives an easy entrance in children." Especially children under six, according to him influenced such films. "A packed message to see children not fast they know the difference between fact and fiction is not."

I hope T is okay and her family - are you in touch with her, Dagney? I have not been on facebook for a long while, so wondering about that!
It's a scary sitch, with only one road out of town, people having no gas. I haven't checked the news yet today. We got news yesterday, that friends lost their home and dog. I can't bear to think of the pets .... :' (
.
I hope all escaped the town, and feel bad for those people. There's no housing there already, with people sleeping on floors and such. Hopefully, the oil companies will provide some temporary shelters for the summer!
as i seem to remember, in april 2010 i bought one of the first ipads.
i saw the virtue of using it immediately.
it was wifi.
So that was the 'straw that broke the camel's back' for you? That's great, and what a memory to have. And what a JERK that brother is. : )
(your screen name always gives me a smile, The Saint... : )
a portland man who recently purchase a home was surprised to learn a family had moved ahead.
of him and changed the locks.
he called the police officer and he said there was nothing he could do.. he offered the occupant money to move out, without success.. squatters have rights here.. do squatters have rights in your country???
I did a bit of googling - apparently, this is a big problem in Oregon. And it's all because of the real estate bubble, crash, and subsequent abandonment of so many houses by their owners. The banks foreclosed, homes were abandoned, and squatters moved in.
The laws in that state appear to be such that they must be legally evicted. The bank sells to an unsuspecting buyer, then says "Oh, squatters? That's your problem now." Laws here would not permit that.
must be two years since i was on the board.
hope all are well.
i still go to the odd meeting.
bump - I missed this thread, hope you are doing well, my friend!

This sounds off. Squatter's rights usually apply to land, and in Canada, this:
Acquiring valid title to real property through adverse possession is possible in most Canadian common law provinces.
The fundamental rule is simple enough: if a person occupies land for the required period of time as set out in provincial limitation acts and, during that time, no legal action is taken to evict or intrespass, the ownership in the land goes from the legal owner to the squatter.
The time limitations run from 10-20 years, depending on provincial legislation. You can't just move into an empty house, change the locks, and PRESTO! it's yours. In land cases, the 'squatters' may have paid taxes for many years, and/or used a piece of land whose boundaries were not legally challenged and/or defined and the legal owner did not instigate the process of legally securing her/his property.
following on from my privous thread about being beaten.
(which seems to have got the most horrendous stories now, i'm so sorry to all those who suffered in that manner).
i'd like to ask when you think about all those people, jw's, family members etc who knew that you were being beaten/abused and did nothing to stop it are you angry with them about it?.
No. I had 2 uncles and 1 aunt come to me in later years (not JW and now passed), and say they knew my mother was psycho and treated me very badly. But back in the 60s and early 70s, people *owned* their children, and little was done to extricate them from abusive homes. Though I never complained (too afraid of my parents) I also learned that 2 of my teachers tried to get me help, but there was none to be had. They are both retired, and haven't been able to find and thank those teachers. xo
saw this in my fb feed today... .
Link to the article - as usual, the comments section is a good read.
Love this one... ahahaha!

"I was raised JW and I can confidently say that I think I'll survive the Armageddon. Because I'm fighting with Dumbledore's Army and they already killed Voldemort, so... yeah.
(But really, watching this gave me PTSD and I need to go call my therapist)"
