I thought it was time to talk.....

i'd like to relate an experience i had yesterday with a couple of jw's "working" with a cart yesterday.. been coming to this site for many years and these days i don't feel i've got much to contribute ,but i was out yesterday doing some voluntary work for a friend who has gone on an overseas trip .travelling around my local seaside area doing the job at hand ,i came across a couple of jw's sitting in a shelter overlooking the beach and had their trolley propped against a large public rubbish bin ,it was actually hard to see ithe trolley from most angles - whatever happened to lifting the basket to show the light stuff ...oh well .the large carpark was pretty empty except for us ,we've had pretty wet weather here lately ,bad storms and here they were set up for a days witnessing rugged up with wind and spitting rain ,i sort of thought " well that's dedication " ....that was my first thought then i pulled myself together and then thought "if i wanted to get some time in and not have to work at it too hard this maybe the place to go if i was a jw still".. well i finished my pickup and looked over at the two and realised i'd read other's experiences about approaching the cart people and wondered if talking to them would be of any benefit as i had witnessed this area for many years and my stance against the wts for hiding molestation of children is well known ,i thought, and they avoid me like the plague.. they were'nt familiar to me so i went up to them and introduced myself and quickly let them know who i was and what i am doing now as regards jw's.

they were a married couple middle aged been in for a long time and could relate to changes in the org very well to pre 1975 when i had first contact.

they pretty much suggested i was blinded to the truth ,when challenged on the royal commission into sex abuse they pointed to a case where they believed a victim they supposedly knew of in the jws was a liar ,so that's their case for the org -unbelievable.

You did well! I've been trying to think of a better approach, as I live downtown and there's a cart only a few blocks away, and finally, your experience is the one I want to have. As well as your outlook/attitude. It's admirable, and a fine example of an anti-witness.

To sum up I think I am pretty happy at the way I dealt with them and I felt it was on my terms and would encourage others to do the same ,not so much to say that they are wrong , but to find a common human ground to talk with them despite the way they respond ,for they are what we were and I can only wish they could find the wonderful freedom from the un-human behaviour of the GB and their power and teachings which change all the time.

myelaine - I've been looking into the vid........ seems to be the real deal, and it's been on youtube for years. Also, the "Third Eye" connection is always present.

I would like to see a 'real' journalistic investigation into this whole thing, including the Bohemian Grove (fascinating, with their huge owl statue and no females, camo cover, etc.). Of course, if there *is* a NWO, it would never be revealed. It's the perfect circle jerk - can't prove it if they control the media. But there sure has been a lot of weird shit in the entertainment industry that is in plain sight. Since I was young, was fascinated by the JFK 'conspiracy theory'. Then we had Watergate --- oops! Nixon was the fall guy. There are lots of whack-job conspiracy theories out there, but there are some things that are just .... unexplained.

Cultural differences, like everything else that is humanity, exist in the JW world. It's very interesting. I've not seen it, being way up here in Canada. I wonder if the Quebecois (French Canada) have different practices from the English here? They have a 'distinct and separate culture'. Hmmmm..... t

DY, for sure. My friend had a single mom, very strict. It's a good thing we have the 'net, and anyone can find support nowadays. Still, having our parents' love and support means so much..

Have there been massive layoffs at TO Bethel? My cousin and wife have been there for decades, and I have no way of getting family news. Just wondering. That would put their (not too financially stable) family in a difficult situation. Oh, well. ; )

DY, the real problem I have is not with the video per se, but I'm sure you've read about my friend's suicide. It teaches children, at a very young age, that gay people can't enter Paradise. Then, when they are 17, and so confused because oh no, I'm attracted to same sex! , they may feel hopeless. I guess there is a scar on my heart, and it throbs a bit whenever I hear of another suicide. So this issue does get to me, it's emo, but I try to discuss in a respectful way on an individual level.

I do get the point of what you're saying. My answer was sincere re news articles and youtube. If the Society doesn't want to get press, then they shouldn't make it part of their ministry to the 'world'.

Good point, Terry. It may speak to personal pov or cultural differences, I dunno. And I'm going through it atm, being shunned yet getting strange tearful telephone messages from my mother who has Altzheimer's ... it saddens me to see Mr. Gregory being exposed in his state of mind. He should be protected. There is a point in there somewhere to his ramblings, and perhaps he knows things he kept secret for many years. Perhaps in his addled state, he is trying to 'testify' before he dies. I dunno. It's sad. x

I'm getting baptized

i know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.

my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.

i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

Ditto to your 'other reality'. The org is getting worse all the time with their shunning policies, and if we are from a strict JW family, chances are that faders will be shunned.
