Hubris is a very destructive quality, and the JWS is now finding out what that means. Be strong, tell the TRUTH about your childhood - you may not need/want to sue or prosecute, but make sure that everyone you trust, KNOWS that the JWS is evil!

let me preface this by saying, i don't know if mr. cosby is guilty of all that he's being accused of.

the number of women coming out against him is pretty damning, but no real proof has been offered (that i'm aware of anyway).

and it is this circumstantial, hearsay evidence that can actually play into the hands of someone trying to get a jw to grasp the seriousness of the child abuse claims in the jw religion.. how so?.

It's a great analogy, and to a logical person, would make sense. But, no, I don't think it would open the eyes of a JW. Either they are ready, or they are not.

Hey, even in the negative, it works, though. If a JW is ready to see TTATT, then, yeah, this could be the 'drop in the bucket'.

so what if we made an organized, concerted effort to contact every celebrity jw that we can think of?

I know that JaRule (sp?) has spoken about his JW upbringing, and I think, of all the celebs, he might be one that would be supportive. Anyone from his hometown?

Here's a thought .... how about a celeb who has a personal interest in this because of their own life experience (and maybe even a 'recovering Scientologist like Lisa Remini, who is speaking out about the cult), who would 'take up the cause'.

... just a thought

It has been 13 days since I was able to get a broadcast on my short-wave radio. The last I heard, there were ships hovering over major cities all over the world ... my own, beloved LA, New York, Tokyo, London. It's hard to fathom.

From my viewpoint in the mountains, the haze over the city is starting to dissipate, but I fear that there are few survivors of the initial attack. For now, my mission is to build a long-term shelter, and learn to live off the land.

Once I have that accomplished, I will seek out other survivors.

yes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.

i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.

the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

It's been a while for me, soon to be 13 years, and ha! This thread made me think of how much life has changed me since i joined.

Thank YOU for giving me a 'tribe', after so many years of isolation. I left the KH at 18, and lost everything in 1978, when I was DF'd, at 20.

In 2002. I was recovering from my first breast surgery, and so low, so poor, having no family support. My ex gave me a PC, and one of the first things I did when I got online was look for exJWs - that brought me to JWD. It was a life-saver, and being a part of this wonderful group of people is one of the best things that ever happened to me.

A couple of friends that I met early-on, have turned into chosen family and I thank you that, SO MUCH! I also made some online friends here, some that still communicate, and others that don't - and that's okay - but ahhh, the names are running through my mind now, as well as the avatars! (I hope life is well for you, first of all my Katie - you keep on going gurl, so PROUD you are a paramedic and that was your dream - Rocketman, and HappyDad and your daughter, K, and so many others! xoxoxo to you all.)

Five years ago, my life changed forever when I severed a ligament in my foot. Long story, but suffice to say that pain and inability to function is very humbling. It has also made me quite bitchy at times, which is frustrating, as that is not my nature (nods to Cofty - sorry, man). But, JWN has helped me through this time. I know I'm different - not as patient, and sometimes a bit crazy with pain. I hate that, but am getting better at dealing with it.

Anyhow, thanks to you, and Angh, and your kids, for all the sacrifices and hard work that had to happen, for this board to be running for so many years, and successfully (by that, I mean, protects its members, easy to navigate, and hell, surviving the Bush elections LOL, as well as the atheist vs Xtian debates of recent times).

You know, you have literally saved lives, and relieved a lot of misery.

I knew a sister, when I was a teen. Her husband was the same as yours - physically/emotionally abusive. She went to the elders, but he, too, was very charming and a good liar. She was counselled to stay, and she did. For years, this carried on, and few in the congregation knew the reality of the hell she was living, until the final time.

He eventually beat her so badly that she was hospitalized with serious injuries. She finally left him, but he was not disfellowshipped until he moved in with another woman.

Please do not go back to him! The elders are not looking out for your best interests. You are strong, and GOOD. You have nothing to feel bad about - HE is the abuser.

Stay strong in your resolve, because life will get better. You are intelligent, and I suggest you start reading, research online about the religion.

How is Joe Publisher reacting to all the TV coverage on the abuse cases?

please pardon if this a repeated topic.

i have had virtually no contact with any witnesses beside my mother for the past few years.

she watches tv constantly and claims she has never seen anything on the watchtower abuse cases.

It's funny, that ....... so many kids were molested in so many congregations.

Many of these 'brothers' and 'sisters' know that pedophilia is rampant within the JWS because it happened in their own families! And what about all the elders we hear about on this very forum ... who are on the committees? Who tell "all" to their wives? Who then gossip in their FS groups? etc. etc. etc.

FFS, my father is a highly-revered elder (very old and now stepped-down) and respected by all, yet my family is so deeply involved in child abuse that, well, it's disgusting and disheartening to know I am related to such scum. My mother is a saint (NOT!), and as my ex always said "Get down off the cross MIL, we need the wood!" *huge grin, he has a way with words* Yet, BOTH my parents deny, deny... that is what abusers DO. They define the term 'hypocrite' (my two cents).

The averages JWS have a great excuse to avoid these programs. Because Jehovah said so. Period. It allows for their own 'plausible deniability'l, based on their trust in their OWN abuser, the WTBTS. (excuse me, I just threw up in my mouth)

It's all disgusting to me. I don't have much use for 'denial'. Pffffft!
