we have left of our own accord about 6 months ago.
we didn't celebrate xmas this year but have just celebrated my daughters birthday.. a friend of mine who is still a witness told me that an elder had approached her and asked if we had celebrated xmas and that if we did it was a df offence as is classed as apostasy!

a separate identity: organizational identity among readers of zion’s watch .
since the watchtowers' lawyers have (a) failed to make any recommendations to the arc that would bring the watchtower up to date with "best practices and procedures" (b) have failed to submit a proposal for victim restitution (c) have failed to secure funding for a redress scheme and (d) have completely dismissed all the arcs' findings - what's the royal commission's next course of action?.
i see two possibilities:.
) negotiate a settlement with the watchtower.
OC - great research. Here's a NYT article about the case I mentioned. In researching this, I may be wrong about the class action suit. My memory sucks lately (sigh). As you can see, the NS govt. set up a fund ...... big mess ensued! You may find it interesting.
and the ensuing Kaufman Report (results of a Public Inquiry) ......

from the time i was a small boy - i loved rock n' roll music.
beatles, rolling stones, led zeppelin, hendrix.
i started getting slighted for the music i listened to as i lay in my bedroom listening on headphones to led zeppelin's song " black dog " at age 14 with my elder dad looking suspiciously at me as i'm rocking out .
NN - well, how cool is THAT? : D
I know what you mean. He is just brilliant, and raised by a single mom. I was impressed by his great love for his mother, and family, as well as his business acumen.

I know. They came after me, years later. My family pushed for them to pursue it, I think, in hopes that DFing me would make me come back. haha, WRONG.
But yeah, it kinda feels like your head is gonna explode, right?
They are also 'clamping down' on JW relatives who talk to DF family members. : (
.
i've been thinking this for a while.
even before the arc scandal.
it seems no matter what, the org.
Hi! Perhaps you don't realize how big a task the ARC has undertaken. They are reviewing not just the JWS, but many organizations or groups. So the JWS are just one small part of the Commission's mission.
Unlike the JWS and their judicial procedures, the ARC has to interview expert witnesses, survivors of the abuse, and the Watchtower representatives. Everything has to be clear and detailed - if it's not, the JWS can use any mistakes or lack of information to wriggle out of their responsibility.
Yes, it takes a long time. And though it would be wonderful if the ARC could lay charges, they can only make recommendations about what needs to be done to protect the children.
I hope that helps with understanding the process a little better. And no, it's not Jehovah helping them - it's just the way things work. xx tal

Edited to say: David Graham - without a doubt, you are correct, sir! Just like other corporate executives, they have a 'Board of Directors' and 'shareholders' to answer to. Whoever, and whatever, they may be.

Another ex-witness told me there was a two year rule and after that they would leave you alone...anyone heard of that?
They are wrong. There is no time limit if you are baptized. Whether or not they come after you, is up to the local BOE and maybe the CO.
during the talk delivered by stephen lett in our last assembly, he talked about brothers who serve despite their frail health.
he said "one of the gb members, whom i work with every day, is 80 years old and has been a diabetic for the last 30".. give a peak into how well they are tended to and how someone that age would not dare to let go of the power that keeps him alive..
LostandFound - agreed. It's more how I see them. But of course, the 'rules' rarely apply to those at the bottom, do they? That is a reality of life, and never more true than in the bOrg. xx : )
i have a friend who has been inactive for going over 2 years.
him and his wife split, she stayed a jw and he left and lived with a worldly girl.
he timed it so that he was officially inactive by the time him and his wife split.
He cut JW land cold turkey when they split. His wife was hell bent on getting him DF. She showed the elders letters that showed he had a gf and did everything possible. She also showed other pieces of "evidence". The elders tried getting him in the hall to "talk" but he dodged it every time, never stepping foot in a hall. The elders finally told her that he is not accepting the Christian authority arrangement so there is nothing they can do
That's a lie. They can DF in absentia.
.
Is his family 'connected'? That would be my guess.
