To the OP, BB. I instantly thought of the expression "loyal to a fault". That would describe one of my parents, and I've learned that sometimes it's good to examine who and what you are loyal to, and perhaps change that focus to another purpose. It's good to be faithful, loyal - it's a sign of a good friend. Once you find out that the object of your trust is false, it's time to let go of being loyal to them. xx tal

It's business. You can't play nice.
I had to chuckle at WWFD, because I thought of Farkel, who was a friend here, and has now passed. Farkel would say "Don't let them get you! Play their game and WIN!"Politics at work, for me, is the worst. I'm not good at it, either. I wish you the best and if you are *that* good at your job, as an administrator or scientist, you CAN weather this storm! Thinking of you ... xo tal

Your english communication is great! Like you, I was 'born in' the JW. It is hard to be 'cast out' at 20, and I understand. You are still young, though, and have the time to create a new life for yourself.
Are you in Europe, or another part of the world? Let us know; we have members worldwide, and there will be suggestions and ways that others will know, that can help you to have a better life. xo tal

When your oldest friend is a JW and they die
by Terry inin my book, i wept by the rivers of babylon, i described the process of having a friend, johnny santa cruz, use our friendship as a platform for converting me to a jehovah's witness.. that friendship cost me decades of my life in bondage to a cult.. the friendship was real and johnny and i bonded for life.
but, the religion eventually turned him into a stone silence toward me--his oldest friend.
now he is dead and the imaginary reunion and meeting of the minds is no longer a possibility.. this makes his passing a double tragedy.. his memories were my memories.

Terry,
I wrote you a little poem and it was on your original thread. I'll put a link to that thread at the bottom of my post; it may help you access. There are three threads, and yeah, the board has a few glitches with some of us older posters.
I hope you are doing okay, and have lots of support 'in person'. Thinking of you. xx tal

I remember seeing her in the Miracle Worker - both times. Her 'coming out' about living with bi-polar dis ease was a big deal - she was one of the first people to put a face on this destructive illness, RIP xx

Two friend sharpen each other.
A true friend tells you how it is and you have to take your lumps. Casual friends will tell you what you want to hear.
All this dies when the friend dies.Dear Terry,
It can be especially hard when a close friend dies, and we have been missing them already, for a long time.
My deepest condolences to you. (((Terry)))

JW marriages: “They” looked good on paper.
by Londo111 ini applaud anyone, male or female, who overcomes shallowness and looks at a person’s deeper qualities, especially in regard dating and marriage.
the movie and fashion industry does much to institute shallowness to the point that, in my opinion, it promotes outright discrimination and judgmentalism even as they give lip service to tolerance..
on the other hand, among jehovah’s witnesses, there seem to be a preponderance of incompatible marriages.

To the OP, re "JW marriages" and my experience (so happy that I never married JW).
My parents tried to arrange at least three marriages when I was 16-17 years old. One was with a local pioneer, and I actually boarded with his family. I was, like "What? He is so ugly!" (sorry, I was 16!). And he was like a brother to me, I lived with them, for cat's sake!
The second was a nice guy, he was the cousin of a Lebanese elder, and a new immigrant. They were 'old style', and when we visited for dinner, the wife ate after serving us. The dinner was apropos of introducing me to Mahmoud, the nephew. A totally nice guy, age-appropriate, but are you f**king kidding me?
The third, and to my eternal disgust (now that I'm 50-ish myself), was a 50YO elder from NYC (bear in mind, I was SEVENTEEN, yes, one-seven, 17!). We were at a wedding, and my parents pushed him on me, to dance. He was sweating heavily ... gripping me (not inappropriately) tightly, and I felt like I was suffocating, let alone the fact that he was old enough to be my father ++.So yeah, the JW way of choosing a 'marriage mate' (f*ck, I hate that term - PARTNER - do you hear me, WT?) is dysfunctional to the max.
GT, I am marking to read your tale later. Hope you are well, xx. : )

which Christian sects interpretation, if any, would be correct? And if the JW's are wrong and they are actually on the wrong side of God's teachings, would they then be destroyed at armageddon?
a) There are so many sects, like (or unlike) the JWS, that would be an huge task to study, but it's an interesting question.
b) It would depend on the teachings. If the cult with the 'correct' teaching (doctrine) believed the JWS would survive, they would. If the cult or sect with the 'correct' doctrines believed they would be destroyed, they would be destroyed.
It's all subjective. xx
