I agree with Englishman... the example of the prodigal son is a good example.
Let's see if they do come out with something in print... I highly doubt it though
and if they are wrong... hey, sae-la-vi so what if they are wrong?
a number of weeks ago, i mentioned how my niece was seeking reinstatement.
well, after all was said and done, the elders allowed her back in.
my brother and his wife were giving her a little "coming back" party with about a total of 35 guests.

i have been reading quite a few of these threads and post and through it i feel as though i have come to know some of you and your behaviors.. i notice that there are many of you who are still associated with the hall, and have not left yet... yet, bring up very "strong" points on the board.. i have a question for all of you who fit this description.... why dont you just 'effin leave already?
whats holding you back?
if you feel soooo strongly that this is "wrong" are you too chicken to state your opinion to a family member?
Lovely post plmkrzy

capone, Again, I feel ya... Ive been through it.
But think about this (addressed to all)... and Im sure that you still love your fellow man... Do you realize (now look around) do you realize how many lives that you are affecting directly or indirectly feeling this way?
Again, capone,.. I understand the whole family deal, I was ousted myself lets not forget, I went through the motions. This question is focused onto those who's reason is not family... who's reasons are 'something else'... Im sure all of us would like to know what those reasons are amongst us, would we not?
i am new to the board and have read countless gripes and pokes at "the organization" but i fail to find one interesting question.. in preface... i was disfellowshiped myself over 5 years ago.
in that time, i had done much searching, visited many churches and faithes.. going to some for as short as one session and some as long as 6 - 8 months.
after i felt my search was in vein i stopped attempting to go to these shurches all together.. i never forgot how to pray through.
Six... youve been jumping on my simpliest words... do you have no sense of humor... humor baby, humor.
Please people reading this thread, lets please get back to the question....
Through everything... do you feel that you leard something?

so you stomped away to read philosophy off a cheerios box???
come see my personal library ... when I say I have searched, I have searched... when I say I have attended many many churches, I mean I have attended and used thier bibles, when I say that Im still searching, I mean Im still searching
What Im also saying is... god its sad to see so many of you lost and not knowing what to do with yourself. Many of you cant even answer simple questions.
WHY DONT YOU LEAVE? the congregation if you hate it so bad... and this question only applies to those who are doubting, hating, yet still attending.

could tell?
HA.... granted, Im in my 20's, but thinking that has anything to do with my ability to think or speak with authority on what I know, reaseached, studied or believed.... is close minded.
Answer me this.... what have I stated as fact thus far? anything?
Question everything from every angle, never be set in your ways, or even dare to think that any of us under the age of 1000 (yes one thousand) years old even have a single glimpse of what we think we know. What IS what we "know" based of off? Fact? Decided by whom?
I call each and every one of you out... on what you THINK you know about anything. i.e. your an eye witness you say... you saw it with your own two eyes eh? Are you sure you saw what you think you saw? Are you sure you learned what you think you learned or think what it was that you were being taught?
Remember - "there is no spoon"

capone... again... I hear ya, I hear ya I have been through every bit of it... no questions there.
But Im sure there are more people here that have more reasons than JUST family... common now... come out with it.... Why are you still there if you hate it soooo much?
Those like capone... reach out to your families, tell them that you are having doubts, reach out to an elder, they are there to serve the cogregation... reach out and tell them your concerns. If your still going... Im sure you still belive in A god, pray.... when is the last time that you did pray?
Hey, again, Im not trying to encourage anyone to stay or go... but your life will be filled with less meaning if you are not true to yourself.

FOR GOD'S SAKE PEOPLE BE AN INDIVIDUAL ALREADY
How dare any of you claim what my knowledge might hold or not, as I have not exposed myself just yet.
Listen, all of us, our parents taught us something, they taught us how to read, write, speak English (or native language) and they also taught us their beliefs.
Just as with the way that you speak English, if you were brought up in the South, then you have an accent... and not "proper English" (using this as an example only)... but when you grew up you left home moved somewhere else and you start to loose the accent a bit but its always still there a bit.
Same with those who were "brought up in the truth"... I was... but I was disfellowshipped just before college. I have been way for almost 6 years now (do the math, Im not old) and it gave me time to study, research and learn alot of things... one of those being you ahve to think for yourself no matter what surronding you may be in.
All in all..... only few in this discussion thread actually answered the question at hand... "Do you feel that you learned anything" as with you an English accent... did you take something with you?
But... all in all... most of you, not all but most... simply used this thread as another bitching session and didnt even answer it.

Addressing specifically for Hilary... by special request
Of course things were learned, some good, some bad and many indifferent. There is no doubt that many whose lives were purposeless and without meaning were given focus and a support system by their attachment to the WTS. Many have been damaged by the same system as you note in your opening post. The same can be said of any religion, despite your seeming lack of respect for other peoples faith. For example, the Catholics harbor priests that abuse children, they also manage leper colonies and run hospices for those who die screaming in the night, something the WTS could afford to do, but chooses not to. The Salvation Army does a commendable job throughout the world helping the unfortunate within society and expecting nothing in return - a very Christian quality, I am sure that you would agree.
The issue is not really whether the WTS is the correct religion because it helped you to get your life, or my life in order, as this may have happened in some other religious or social scenario. I know at least five persons whose life was saved by Alcoholics Anonymous, but despite the millions of lives repaired by AA, they do not claim to speak for God. It would also mean that all the Hindus and Buddhists who were enmeshed in substance abuse and manage to free themselves, would by your own definition be worshipping a useful God - do you believe that they are?
The issue is whether what the WTS preaches is sustainable Scriptually and socially. On both these counts many on this Board have researched the issue and found the WTS is claiming to be what it is not. I am very pleased that your worship of the WTS, and I use that term deliberately, has bought you happiness. I hope that you continue in your studies with an open mind and with your personal integrity intact.
I was requested to answer "questions" from Hilary's post, but I see only one. would by your own definition be worshipping a useful God - do you believe that they are?
My answer : And then? Does that really, really matter? We are all in a search for a meaning, a purpose in life... in that search we may come across doctrines, cultures and ways of life that we may either agree with or disagree with. Our own searches lead us down our own life's paths... plain and simple, if you dont like the WTS... Get TF OUT ! If you do... STAY.
Not to dodge your question... do I believe... sure.... why not... doesnt mean you have to.
With that... again... all Im seeing is emotional whining, your saying nothing... BAH I say!
To correct your VERY VERY incorrect statement made to me, I am very pleased that your worship of the WTS - I worship no such society. I have searched for my god and he has drawn me to him, and his name is Jehovah. It just so happens that I am guiding my knowledge in learing of him and drawing close to him by studing as a JW.... an imperfect organization, as all of god's people have always been. Wether or not the WTS is right or wrong, I believe that Jehovah knows our hearts and he will decide when the time is right what happens and what doesnt (notice I am leaving that open ended) because none of us know what IS going to happen until it happens.

Hey hilary, I thought this was a forum... didnt know I had to address SPECIFIC questions.
But hey, let me go do that... just for you. :)
