Through everything... do you feel that you learned soemthing?

i am new to the board and have read countless gripes and pokes at "the organization" but i fail to find one interesting question.. in preface... i was disfellowshiped myself over 5 years ago.

in that time, i had done much searching, visited many churches and faithes.. going to some for as short as one session and some as long as 6 - 8 months.

after i felt my search was in vein i stopped attempting to go to these shurches all together.. i never forgot how to pray through.

Dansk - You make very valid and convincing points, stating timelines, quotes and more! Very impressive. But just as you have arranged these facts in a particular order to come to a specific conclusion... it seems very familiar... almost WTS. Now dont get me wrong, I am not discrediting your input by any means, it is not my place to do so.

Here is my question though - What do we base what we think we know on? Facts? Written by whom? Or is what we read or written even have anything to do with the words themselves?

And then again, maybe we should leave that for a new thought provoking thread.

I apologize if I have come accross as offensive in any measure.

Let me clarify "emotional crap"... For people to say "hey <that> is a horrible thing" based on what, emotion, perception or fact... and "fact" based on what viewpoint for explination. I believe for someone to "feel" something requires emotion, but for someone to force those feelings onto another and say that the other person is wrong per sae I believe is ethically wrong. Emotion in such statements should not be part of acusations.

Were you married at the Kingdom Hall ? How bad was your wedding reception ?

i'm just wondering...... i remember going to some wedding receptions for couples who got married at the kingdom hall,.

and i hate to be mean but, super boring, and bad, how bad you ask ??

ok here we go ..... - the worst had to be one couple played kingdom meolodies for their wedding dances, i couldn't believe it.. - no alcohol (i'm sure we all experienced a few of these), reception was over by 9:30.. - no music at all, just a gathering of people, and they ended the reception with a prayer, i thought i was at an assembly.. - food, like if you can't afford to get married don't, like frozen stuff bought at your local grocery store, and still in the package when you got up to the tables, how tacky.. - you could always tell a couple who couldn't afford much, when you had to drive 50 miles into the back woods to find some dinky little community hall they rented for $100.. - i remember one where the bride was pregnant, i was really surprised they allowed them to use the kingdom hall.. - another classic was, they had this band (of all jw's of course) and man they were bad.

I have been to some nice ones and some boring ones, it really depends on the couple and what they can afford.

i have been reading quite a few of these threads and post and through it i feel as though i have come to know some of you and your behaviors.. i notice that there are many of you who are still associated with the hall, and have not left yet... yet, bring up very "strong" points on the board.. i have a question for all of you who fit this description.... why dont you just 'effin leave already?

whats holding you back?

if you feel soooo strongly that this is "wrong" are you too chicken to state your opinion to a family member?

So it seems to some that a slow exit is better for them, and all should respect that.

But we are still talking about association here. Do you not feel as though you are in an indirect way lying to your close family and friends by continuing to put on a front and not stating your feelings? You may not want to hurt them... but will it hurt them more if they feel betrayed, or lied to for a length of time? Do you feel that your friends and family will respect you for being open with your feelings if they truely are your friends?

Again, these are questions, and not statements, I hope that no one takes offense by these.... but are they not questions that need to be asked?

Again, I feel that we should all respect anothers view point why they feel what they feel and why they do what they do.

I presume from your answer that you feel that those who have like yourself, prayed and found healing within their own chosen religion, are as valid in the eyes of your God as any other religion? ( This *is* a question…lol ) Do you believe in false religion? If so how would you identify it?

Good point and good question, coming from an absolute point of view. Sure there is "false religion", but who is truely to decide that but God (Jehovah) himself? are we in a place to do that? no. Each of use will feel that we are in truth, but to believe what we think we know is absolute is rediculous.

I prayed, and had been praying for quite some time. Now this is me, what I have to do with anyone else doesnt matter, nor pass judgement against. I myself fell as though I have been lead to where I am at now, and tommorow I may be lead further. What exact direction that takes me is not for me to decide. See, I gave up in my own ability to decide or "know" what is truth, only through praryer do I ask God (Jehovah) personally to use me in his will, Wether or not he chooses to do so is up to him.

Please, let me know if you feel I have addressed your question. My answers come from the heart.

I was baptized as a Witness of Jehovah... a witness to his works, I HAD dedicated my life to him. I, through my actions broke that. I was not baptized as a member of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society,... no... I was baptized and dedicated my life to the service of my god and to the witness of him. To answer your question... I was baptized in '95.

your opening to this thread was nasty. you tried to back people against the wall and basically called them hypocrites for not leaving. Well, if you are so farking insightful why were you disfellowshipped?

Not nasty, simply a blunt questions. And also answer me this, is not someone who says one thing, yet does another a hypocrite... if it comes off that way then sure. I had mentioned in a previous thread, I was DF'ed at a young age for 'sex before marriage'... and rightfully so that I was DF'ed, I was not repentant, I look back now and I know that. But what it made me do was give me the opprotunity to step back analyze, search, and I continue to do so. Trust me, I do not claim to but utmost or holy by anymeans.

Well see... Im not quite certain why you are posting this here... cause that issue had to do with THE OTHER thread. But Ill go ahead and answer it here if you so desire even though I thought I had already addressed it. But here it goes

I believe that each of us will believe what WE believe IS the only way, or some variation there of. Do I feel that JW is the only way... who am I to say? its not my place, only gods, at his appointed time, and I feel that all should make a true valiant attempt to find him and follow him... never being satisfied with our findings and always testing our faith as the bible so lovingly describes.

What part does doctrine play in your new-found purpose in life?

Doctrine... no... but what I do know is that I have searched and am continuing to search, constantly. At this current moment in time, here I am, and who knows what tommorow will bring.

What I ask are real questions.... and I plan to do so as I continue my membership on this board. Look, already, my first two post, were on the Active Topics list with Flames at the same time.

Yes, I will stir the pot, I will make things rise,... Ive only just begun.

I refuse to sit here and loligag around about "what was your highest position" or other rants .... real questions for real thinkers.

the apostates you are acting against the directives of the Society and the God-appointed Faithful and Discreet Slave and it's Governing Body.

Again, I search for god and serve no such society. Doing so would be idolatry.

I am not using curse words towards any individual, I only am using alludes to such words for emphasis as I am passionate about what I speak.

What is my purpose? No purpose... just conversation. I ask real quesions... questions that are in my own mind as well, I even question my own thought as each of us should... and I would like to see how others respond.

Oh, pr's post, merit all the way.

But is association with family and friends, the world that you know, really the only reason that you stay in?

There have to be other reasons out there, I fail to believe out of all the members on this board, this is the only answer we can come up with.

Do I look forward to my family's relationship when and if I return fully... no... if they want me they can call me anytime... if they dont till Im reinstated, I will disown them for being hypocrites on that matter. But that gripe I hold with my parents only, not with the organization. Heck, my parents didnt even attend my own wedding, thier first born. I was married at a non-denominational non-churchafilliated wedding hall, with a non-denominational chirtian minister, with an unbiased sermon... no one from my side of the family attended but my mom's half drunk sister. LOL. and I love her for it.

So do I look forward to that... F*** no. They have some serious ass kissin to do.

Again, they ARE NOT my reasons in any which way or form.... and when and if I return... shouldnt that be the way I return anyways... for myself and not for anyone else?

And you know what guys... even though Ive just started on this board... I already think its too interesting to ever leave.

but just as the logo up at the top left says "...everyone welcome" I hope everyone here sticks to that.
