conditions would have to be met......

1. no more bible quoting (you can make it say anything, if you align the scriptures in the right order)

2. The weird "scary" thingie would just have to stop..... (I have a heart condition)

3. Christmas... from now on we all do it (the kids in school, used to stuff me in my locker, for not celebrating christmas... it's was dark in there.)

4.Rush Limbaugh joins the Democratic party, and votes for gay rights. (it aint gonna happen)

5.I get to be on the cover of the next Watchtower..... (wearing ONLY a neck-tie)

Aguest... you said ... "That is so ignorant that it makes me shake my head. It's like people who say, "The Catholics believe this and that," or "the Mormons believe this and that," or the JW's or Muslims, or whatever... and don't have a clue, because they've either read only one part of something or come in during the middle of something... and draw conclusions"

Now... the reason why I make light of this whole thing to begin with is this question...

What do YOU believe that someone, who may come to this board seeking serious help to get out of a cult like Jehovahs Witnesses... would think... when they read threads like this? What "conclusion" might be drawn? ......

I mean people come here with really concrete issues, and serious.... serious problems. They have doubts, and insecurities. They are, in most cases, looking for the "voice of reason" to help them, get past some of these things. To be reassured, in some way.

I just think there is a proper time and place for this type of thing.... and in that place... they have put away all the sharp objects !

Let Us Create A True Religion...

the wts feels that they are the true religion because they place tons of literature based on their own interpretations and because they show true christian love for one another.

this forum is testimony to the validity of their cause so i won't bother to repeat the obvious.

but if a true religion were to exist, i belive it shoud be based on the following:

Sorry Badolpuddytat (cute name) but didn't Jesus say that 'all things are possible with God'!, From our imperfect human standpoint it may seem an impossibility that a true religion could exist, but if God so wanted to he truly could. There would still be imperfect humans in that religion, but doctrinally and in it's interpretations of prophecy etc, it could be perfect if God so chose to reveal. Not that that means he is necessarily doing so right now mind you.

I just believe that you cannot join a group of people, and say "this is what I choose to believe...1.2.3.4."..a list of neatly aligned doctrines,Covering every aspect of humanity. If "all things are possible"... then there is no need for that. You just cannot be taught what to believe... you can reahearse a list of beliefs, recite them.... but BELIEVING them? There would always be loss of integrity to yourself, wouldn't there?

Should The Watchtower Be Blamed For Everything Bad Happening In Your Life??

at times, i read some watctower apologists complain here that everyone blames the watchtower society for everything or anything negative in their lives.

sometimes, because of who is expressing this view, a few might jump on the bandwagon and attack the poster.

but i wonder whether or not we at times need to deal with our own negatives about ourselves.

I agree Minimus that many things that get blamed on the WT are not always their fault. But it is a domino effect, I think.

The WT themselves (and other religions) breed a sense of not taking responsibility to begin with. Nothing that goes wrong in the "world" today... is not blamed on Satan with them. Right down to the cycle of weather and climate changes that have taken place for millions of years!

But as far as the anger and hurt and the implication that some here are "blaming" their lives on the WT... well... I feel like it is sorta relevant to mention that it is how "we" as JW's were never allowed to learn how to properly live. While WT may not be directly responsible for the night-mares, eating disorders, mental instabilities etc... they ARE responsible for those who were raised in this thing. The lives they rip apart for the almighty dollar.

For myself... I managed to escape it at a very young age.(12).. ran away. But those I left behind are still there... the life I chose was a difficult and long road to where I am today.... Only in the last few months have I been back in contact with them. It is a tragic thing... but we are getting them out, one by one. And I just think that it is normal to expect them to come together in a place like JWD and ...you know... vent it all out or something. I don't really think most people are putting off their own responsibility... just expressing (for the first time in their lives) just how much it hurts to be.... different.

(I know I know... SHUT UP... I'm goin', I'm goin') JMO

there was a character in the matrix who, after being released from the matrix, got tired of the real world and wanted to have his memory erased and his body put back in the factory so as to live out his days in a dream world.

have any of you ever wished you didn't know what you now know about the wt, or wish you could go back to the life where you had a sure hope and belief as to what the future would bring without your current knowledge about the 'truth'?

being 'unplugged' does have it's disadvantages.

Yes Wt Lies... the Matrix exists in wtbs.... (i figured it out) But find no similliar disadvantages to being 'unplugged'....

i have the four publication index books dated 96-99. and the entire watchtower library disc 1999 original not a copy) with the complete instruction book.

the cd includes the entire new world translation, and a dozen or so books dated back to 1963. also the awakes and dozens of tracts and booklets.

pretty hefty stuff.

To the person who requested the 89 watchtower... yes I have it on the disc... I dont know if what you are looking for is in the disc version... but I would be happy to cut/paste it and post it right here... a lot of reading and the search feature is pretty lax... it would help if you knew wich article the sentence you are looking for, is in. I am working on it though.

I dont know if posting the entire issue is "out of line" with Simon... but I will try, if it takes up too much room... I will be happy to remove it.

i think most people are unfamiliar with why certain people behave the way they do.

most people lable those who are quite different as the rest as nutty, strange, plain nuts.

But I definitely agree with the reason for this thread Serious Mental illness is such a sad thing... but sometimes a nut is just a nut. If you think you are Jesus re-incarnate.... then there are serious issues involved. The "god complex" gone terribly wrong or something.

ok.. enough... I won't torment the poor guy any longer. I am sorryIt apparently doesn't bother him though. . . he just keeps right on going. I think it encourages him or something.
