hi i have been reading everyone's posts for a few days.
i've been away from being jw for about 10 years, but only recently has it occured to me what a bunch of crap the whole thing is... i am still young, and so therefore it seems odd to me that all of my family are strong jw's.
especially my dad he was an elder), who i always associated with being a very intelligent person.

Exactly! I said this to my mother, and she said when they first started studying, they went to the library to verify that Jesus did indeed die on a stake not a cross, just like the societies publications said. And it was infact confirmed! Guess that settles it all then, doesn't it. Yes, this part of it is soooooooooooooooooo frustrating.
is it possible that just about everything we say about the jw's on this forum is true, but on the other hand they would be the only true religion that god approves, even though they are imperfect and make errors?
I used to try to point out that the religion didn't do it-he did it all himself.
This is exactly what my father says, he would have been violent, a drinker, followed in the footsteps of his father and brothers. I told him he could have picked any religion to do this. But he doesnt get it either. Oh well.
most persons, imo, are pressured to get baptized.

Of course, I was brainwashed that I would die at Armegeddon if I didn't. I remember when I told my dad I wanted to get baptised, he asked me why, and thats what I told him "I dont want to die at Armegeddon"
That and I hoped somehow I would get the spirit, and be transformed, and all of a sudden begin to enjoy this religion that I so hated being a part of.

Teachings aside, I dont see how God could give his approval to the JW's considering all the harm they do the people.
Do they have a few things right? I'm sure they do, but dont all religions? Like the signs of the time of the end, earthquakes, etc... or like Armegeddon, I am sure someday there will be an Armegeddon, so are the JW's the only ones who preach this? Nope, so although they may be right about it, so would most of the worlds population.

Along the lines of what Es was saying. THis is the part about dfing/shunning that simply blows my mind. How my parents can turn their back on their flesh and blood, ignore the natural bond between parent and child, is simply too hard to fathom. Especially now that I have children, and I feel the intense love for them, a love that is just not measurable. There is absolutely no way anybody on this planet, or outside of this planet, could ever demand that I deny or shun either one of my precious babies. I would simply tell them to screw themselves, and thats all there is to it. Yet thousands of witness parents are able to do this to their own flesh and blood. Unbelievable.
I think its spanish for "eat the little red m n m". The green ones are good too, cuz they make you horny. But I'll settle for a little red one right now. Run little guy, run.
my husband was on the phone with the elder who was the po at the time of the great "wedding fiasco".
let's just say my husband initiated the conversation (i can't go into details) and just before he hung up i said something i've been wanting to say for almost 6 years!

my mother called last night to tell me that the oldest daughter of one of my best childhood friends had died of a brain tumor.
i remember when robin was pregnant with stephanie 25 years ago.
i grew up with robin and her 2 sisters lisa and julie.
Sorry for your loss, such a tragic story. Good on you, for being the better person.

Another Johnny Depp great! I absolutely loved that movie Es. Although we see alot of movies, its more the family movies, or whay my hubby wants. But once in a while I rent one all for my lonesome, and I picked that one just recently. Just so nicely done!
