And here in Australia, not allowed to stand for the national anthem at the movies in the early sixties.
I was castigated at school for not saluting the flag every Monday morning.
Then was made to stand in the corner of every class until i peed myself as I was not allowed out of the
classroom.
Reminds me of a song by "Madness" "Baggy trousers" 'Oh what fun we had, but did it really turn out bad'

Update;
Its behind a paywall.
To summarize ; On the 28th October the Magistrate granted more time for the police to investigate and prepare a complete brief of evidence.
Apparently the lawyer of the accused is not happy. The Lawyers name is Kelvin Pearson.
The accused was granted bail in the supreme court of Brisbane as reported by the abc news on the 13th of October this month. I will try to post a link to that story.

The local witnesses do know who he is as i stated but are tight-lipped when quizzed about his identity.
I guess we will have to wait till the 28th of October to understand the timelines
and resultant charges.

Hi folks,
The only intel that i have heard from a local is that he is not currently an elder.
Local witnesses that do know who the accused is, are tight-lipped and will not speak about the matter.
The interesting point in my opinion, is how the elders that 'dealt' with the matter originally now feel
about not notifying the police then.
I guess we will just have to wait till the court hearing in October to hear the full story according
to the police and any others that come forward in the matter.

Just received this info from an associate in Qld
Word on the street.
The accused has a Greek and Canadian passport. Went from Greece to Canada before settling in Australia.
Known as a wealthy, influential jw
The units he owns are rented by jws.
Elders are rallying around him and supporters are claiming 'apostate lies'.
The police are currently, after scrutinizing his devices, preparing more charges for his next hearing due in October I'm told.

by jonahstourguide inhi folks.. i put this in abuse as i thought it relevant.. a physically in mentally out friend that considers our friendship greater than religion told me that on the latest broadcast steven lett alluded to satans voice being behind people that claim the organisation protects pedophiles.. my friend then went on to say they must be in damage control.. he added, but that is correct, they are hiding their internal records.
is not that construed as protecting the accused?.
if i get the inclination i may post a snippet of what was actually said.. sadly my friend is trying to protect his family relationships and so goes along with the charade.. his situation weighs on me but, as many of you here know, it can be a difficult road to travel.. jtg.

Police will allege the 61-year-old abused his position of religious standing within the Jehovah's Witnesses community to sexually assault young men between 2008 and 2018.

AdDetectives arrested the man on Sunday at Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast.
The man faces 21 counts of rape, 17 counts of sexual assault, 13 counts of procuring sexual acts by false pretence and one count each of incest, torture and common assault.
The alleged offences relate to four male victims aged in their late teens to early twenties.
Detectives fear there could be more victims and are appealing for anyone with information to contact the police.
The man, who cannot be identified under Queensland law, was due to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court court on Monday.

New research has revealed some of the data popular apps can track and collect while using in-app browsers.
Software engineer and security researcher Felix Krause has assessed what code is injected onto a website to gather user activity when it is opened through an app.
This includes any ads or links clicked through a creator's profile.
For example, any link clicked through TikTok will open within the app using the platform's in-app browser rather than a default browser like Chrome or Safari.
What does an in-app browser look like?

"Installing a keylogger is obviously a huge thing… according to TikTok it's disabled at the moment," Mr Krause said.
"The problem is they do have the infrastructure and the systems in place to be able to track all these keystrokes… that on its own is a huge problem.
"The fact that they have this system already is a huge risk for every user."
The Vienna-based researcher is the founder of Fastlane, a testing platform for Android and iOS apps, acquired by Google five years ago.
He has been looking at the risks of in-app browsers for several years, but the increased use by big tech companies spurred him to look at the code behind each platform.
On Thursday he released a report on his findings after creating a security tool, InAppBrowser.com, for anyone to see what apps can track when using their in-app browsers.
It can recognise what the apps like TikTok, Instagram and Meta can track but it is unable to tell us what data each app chooses to collect, transfer or use.
