Most people are tuning out all the new changes. You don't even need to read apostate material to undrestand what a joke things are becoming. Just use your brain. In the public talk at the "god's word is truth" convention, they mentioned that truth doesn't change or contradict. That's basically an admission that what God is allegedly giving them is not the "truth," since the new light is often contradictory .

JW morale reaching new low

because of this it's becoming tempting to privately share my views with friends, but i know this is still too dangerous.

Is disagreeing with the GB rebelling against God?
by kneehighmiah inthe other day an elder mentioned that not following the gb direction is the same as rebelling against god.
this in harmony with the ominous tone set forth in the respect jehovah's authority video.
in this thread i'll point out several gaping holes in that argument as time allows.. 1. the gb/fds does not speak "mouth to mouth" with god as did moses.. jehovah condemned and punished mariam for speaking against moses.

Then I read the scripture where Jesus chastises the Pharisees for "seating themselves in the seat of Moses".
That's an excellent point. Unispired men like the Pharisees placing themselves into a position of unquestionable authority.

'We are all scallywags, but God loves us anyway' - My story
by Laika inperhaps the most profound moment of my life occurred when i was sat in a car with my dad.
we were travelling home and having a very jw conversation on the paradise, at least, it was until my dad slipped in one of those rare moments of honesty in the watchtower world:.
that moment really hit me hard.

This is the post that has touched me the most. Like you I'm still in. But I've finally removed the guilt. Life is so much better. I've been helping my friends and family learn to live without guilt by focusing only on their personal relationship with a loving God. I ask them for example, "Does God care more about whether or not you went in FS on a holiday than he cares about you showing love?" None of Jesus commands included meticulous hour counting, meeting attendance and RBC projects to prove faith.

Many friends I've spoken with are becoming discouraged. Because of this it's becoming tempting to privately share my views with friends, but I know this is still too dangerous. Most witnesses in my circle are intelligent free thinkers. It's not surprising that the ones I've talked to don't belive the GB has special knowledge. They just go along with it and "wait on Jehovah." We even joke about it. Nobody I know actually (MS,Elders Pioneers) enjoys going to the midweek meetings. We also are not exactly overjoyed about extra meetings for the CO visit/ yearly pioneer meeting etc. Why does every form of "encouragement" invole a long talk or an extra meeting nobody wants to attend (including the CO and elders)?" Thus it's no surprise that the "big shots" look for 100's of ways to avoid being in their seats or paying attention during assembly programs. It seems most go along with things for the sake of personal appearances and peace with family and friends.
I asked a MS friend yesterday if he had read about the new generation teaching. He said no. However he added with a laugh, "I don't think the Slave expected the system to last this long."
We discussed how they once believed the end would come before all the anointed who were alive in 1914 died. I then asked "why do you think they're changing it again?" He smiles and says, "I don't think they know what Jesus was talking about." We then joked about how everyone is going to be confused at the upcoming watchtower study because the teaching doesn't make any sense.
I think that the new generation teaching will begin the fading process for many. The lesson is scheduled to be studied late March early April. I've read every "Interview with an Apostate," and it's interesting to note how many began their departure after the 1995 teaching change.

3. The GB acts like the Pharisees and hold their oral tradition (rules) to be equal to God's law. There is no evidence that Moses, Joshua, Jesus or any of God's inspired representatives ever did this. However, the Pharisees believed that the Jews were too stupid to use their God given brains and power of reasoning to understand God's law. Thus they made sure the people knew what was considered work on the Sabbath and how to wash their hands. Interestingly, the Pharisees did not recieve inspiration from Jehovah.
A few weeks ago the CO shared with us an exhaustive list of about 10 different scenarios where a sister would need to decide whether or not she needed to wear a head covering. I thought wow this sounds like the Pharisees oral law. Doesn't the sister have reasoning abilities and a personal relationship with God that should determine how she applies this scripture in her private life? I was shocked to learn that sisters do not need a head covering when translating at the meetings. Except...get this...if she is translating sign language. Why? Because the GB feels that sign language is not direct translation, but involves her own thoughts. Therefore it is considered teaching and she must wear a head covering. I needed a lawyer to understand all of that.

2. The apostles spoke directly with Jesus, received visions or visible outpouring of holy spirit. This clearly identified them as being God's undisputed representatives. Despite what the GB insuiates when their predictions are wrong, the apostles never made false predictions. Rather the apostles asked our Lord Jesus humbly for answers when they were unclear about our Lords purpose. The GB today boldly makes predictions, and seemingly discovers new light when they are wrong. Would Jehovah give his chosen servants the wrong answer? Did Jesus give his apostles wrong answers about the coming destruction of Jerusalem? Therefore there is no evidence that Jesus has given the GB any authority go beyond what is written in the scriptures.

1. The GB/FDS does not speak "mouth to mouth" with God as did Moses.
Jehovah condemned and punished Mariam for speaking against Moses. Why? Because Moses was directly communicating Gods word and direction. Moses had gone up mt Sinai to speak directly with God. Also the law from God was delivered directly through Moses and d
id not need any extra human interpretation. No "new light" aka human interpretation. When there was a question or dispute such as with the daughters of Zelophehad, Jehovah answered Moses directly.
This contrasts the GB who assume the sole authority to interpret God's word. There is no pattern set forth by Moses of this happening. Moses did not interpret God's word. He could speak directly to God for clarification. Hence any decision God relayed to him was final and true. The GB today flip flops all the time. This is the result of guess work, not God's spirit. Jesus condemned those who felt the need to interpret God's law. Anyone want to guess who they were?

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I really appreciate it. I thankfully have attended college. I stopped caring about what other people thought on the matter. My biggest regret surprisingly is not having the opportunity to play high school sports especially football. I always wanted that experience. Looking back I see that was just another man made rule. No basis in scripture. I'm not bitter though. I have great friends and because of our network of brothers I've been fortunate enough to have traveled extensively to foreign conventions and branches. I'm grateful for that. The average jw, especially the ones who aren't big shots are so loving.
One post I read that made me die laughing was from a brother who was in the chairman's office at the District Convention with all the bosses. Hilarious. It's exactly like a country club. Everyone is just chillin except for the 2 brothers timing the talks.
Service is also becoming a joke. Worked with an elder today. Did 10 houses. Knocked once, put the special tract in the door and moved on. Then a long coffee break, a long drive to 2 return visits and finished. "3" hours. Plenty of good non spiritual conversation about hot female celebrities, cars fishing and football though, so I had fun.

Hi. I finally decided to post. I'm so scared of being caught, so I'll be vague. I'm an appointed brother. I've served in foreign language and have had interview and demos on the conventions and assemblies as recently as this summer. I started doubting last year. I was falsely accused of wrongdoing. I was expecting loving treatment from the elders, but instead I was met with an inquisition. Evidence cleared me beyond doubt and the false accuser was punished, I was left scarred by the way things were handled. Being talked to like a child and threatened. The bible was only used once during the course of several meetings. I was sent to another congregation with a good recommendation.
I started to see that elders are not directed by spirit. Then the new changes about the fds and generation pushed me over the edge. I also started to feel the organization was more like a corporation. Endless scrutiny over punctuality, field service time and needless rules. No love. I'm no longer feeling refreshed. It's like I'm going to another job when I attend and the elders are my bosses. Also since I no longer believe the fds is the governing body, all the little rules have become burdensome. I believe the GB are sincere bible students, but they possess no special knowledge or authority from Jesus.
I'm still in because of family and friends. They don't believe the new teachings, but said that they'll wait until the new system to understand things. Very few agree with the FDS on education. Many of my friends attended college. I have family members in Bethel that have attended college as well. The main thing is I no longer feel any guilt. I'll turn down any new assignments and instead focus on being loving and helping everyone I meet.
