I don't have a copy of the video. Can someone send it? This is an issue that has personally affected me. I lost a JW relative to suicide.

Why the "worldly" thought of heaven is more comforting than Paradise
by kneehighmiah inone of the worst and best things about waking up is realizing that despite what you've been taught as a child, you are going to die one day.
that was easy for me to handle, as i've had near death medical emerigencies.
the hardest part is the thought of losing your parents.

I think the most peoples belief in heaven allows them to focus on the present while still having hope for the future. It prevents despair. One psychologist and holocaust survivor desribed despair with an equation: despair=suffering-meaning. I think having a hope of something better helps people to get through difficult moments in life.

by Haupi33 inexjw elder and felony fugative, michael johnson norris, plead guilt today, 2/27/2014, in santa barbara county superior court for sexual molestation of the daughter of brandon joel, under a plea deal norris was sentenced to in state prison, a far cry from the possible 25 years he could have received had the case gone to trial.
the family has full intentions of pursuing a civil litigation against norris and the watchtower society that harbors pedophiles..

District Assembly arrangements 2014.
by quellycatface inmy jw mother drives me nuts.
she lives in quite a cut-off part of the uk and this year, is expected to travel to hq (rugbyfans), aka twickenham.
she's great to make the trip, it's like a spiritual holiday for her.. i said i thought it ridiculous and unreasonable for the gb to expect people to travel that far and pay for accommodation near london.

Here in America we now have to travel 3+ hours away. Many people cannot afford hotels. Some will be either staying how or taking a bus back and forth every day. Yes a 6 hour round trip! Many people who have been used to a local convention for 20+ years are not prepared for this expense and the are not at all hapy about it.

One of the worst and best things about waking up is realizing that despite what you've been taught as a child, you are going to die one day. That was EASY for me to handle, as I've had near death medical emerigencies. The hardest part is the thought of losing your parents. They are just turning 60. To be honest, the thought of them dying from old age scares me. My grandparents are still alive, which is amazing, so hopefully my parents live long too. I know they didn't expect to still be in this system. I wonder what they're thinking, or if they're having doubts. We JWs are taught that the end will occur in our lifetime. Heck, we won't even have time to finish school. This means that people born into the JW religion often don't take the time to contemplate their mortality. Thankfully my parents were converts so they happen to be more open minded thinkers and have always encouraged me to plan for the future, retirement etc.
Whether you believe in heaven or not, I think it at least gives people something hopeful to look forward to while at the same time allowing them to responsibly accept the inevitability of death. And since you can't find out if heaven exists until you after die, you will never be disappointed! After all was that not what the book of Ecclesiastes is about? Live a meaningful life, because there is nothing you can do in Sheol? In contrast think of all the people who accepted the teaching that they would be in paradise before the generation of 1914 passed away. All the people who decided to not live their life because the end was near. They decided not to have children soley because they believed the end would come in a few years. Somehow we have told many people to believe that they won't die. To me that's the greatest lie. Sounds just like what the serpent told Eve.

It's too bad no JWs actually read the public edition. I haven't read one in years, even when I handle the part for the service meeting I just let the audience tell everyone what they liked. Only a few people comment. Most people just grab magazines before service and never look at the content. I don't even know what is being offered this month.

And its true. Many pioneer sisters are giant freaks. The good thing is that they value appering holy to the congregation so they usually won't go to the elders and risk losing their status. They will just make up for it by putting in more hours.

My development with the opposite sex was greatly stunted. Then I decided to do what the skilled brothers were doing. Date girls in different cities. Then you can visit them and nobody knows your business. Also I discovered sexting. Now I've developed more fully. The WT advice works against young brothers. They don't learn how to talk to girls abd what really turns women on. Women don't get wet from hearing that you're a nice MS with spiritual goals. Many brothers (myself included) get frustrated because sisters don't seem attracted to"spiritual men." There are lots of bitter angry emasculated young JW brothers. I was once one. Then I discovered how to enjoy women. There are many sisters just waiting for someone to come and unlock their wild fun side. Life is much better and I've avoided trouble for the most part.
