When I was visiting T.O. in January (have lived in Canada in the past) I went to a J.W. meetup, they happen all over the world. We met on Bay St. at a Starbucks. Since then I have been to a meetup in Orlando (live about 30 miles south). Had a wonderful evening. Recommend it for someone getting out for the initial time(s).

i can't believe i'm starting a thread on this after four years of participating on jw discussion boards.
lately there seems to be a band of posters who believe that all opinions must be respected (wtf?).
they believe that any type of criticism or alternate viewpoints constitute an 'attack'.
Maybe all former serious religionists should venture out today to the SPCA and adopt a puppy, then listen to John Coltrane's music. 'Love Supreme' each morning does wonders to one's bad attitudes and distaste.

all it takes is a little charisma and some insecure, feeble-minded followers.
the reasons you might wanna become one are many -- it pays well (and all of it tax-exempt), you get lotsa nookie, you can get other people to do your laundry, etc..
Excellent! Sounds like some of the leaders of communes I visited after the WTS. The very successful leaders are the ones who can mix it up (Koresh, Jones). Being schiz. helps, delusions add to the scene, and then there are the prophecies in the wee hours that keep them captivated. Calling down evil on the renegades, "your tongue will fall out at daybreak," usually attains a repentant attitude. One commune had big mokes who used their muscle, then there was the group with fences and armed guards. So, to you wanna-be cult leaders take a page from each of these guys and when you're ready to put out the shingle you'll have the package down. Then again...isn't it nice being alone, and not responsible to any man/woman?
the august 1, 2003 issue of the watchtower is lying -- again.. on page 20 it states,.
"they [jws] have no paid clergy".
this is false.
Hey! These guys (and their wives) are worth it! Look at all the good they bring to the congregations. NOT! BTW, was thinking about COs and DOs and I remember one "dude" as bombastic as they get, who tried to emulate the Rutherford sound (gobs of kindness). He told the congregation that he expected freshly prepared food when he visited the homes of the brethren, cause "this brother and sister don't eat leftovers." When he visited my home we had a large salad, and when he asked what we were eating for the next course, I told him, "we have more salad - it's freshly made." Heck as a pioneer that was what we had, and the look on his face. Years later, I truly appreciate their visit to my home. Their next visit to our congregation, we were not considered for dining arrangments. Maybe I should have robbed a deli for a cold cut platter.

islanders' fury as pervert returns
Genesis 9:6: "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man." What adult should be allowed to live in the communities of mankind that abuses any child? The image of God used for the gratification of a beast should convict the remainder of the community to at least ban these pukes from co-existence. My theory always has been that those who have violated the rules of nature should be sent by chopper to islands far from land, dropped from 50 feet, and left to survive with the rest of the pukes. Intermittently blood and flesh should be dropped in the waters around the island to keep the sharks healthy and energetic. Then let these animals work it out on their own. Beats spending tax payer money to support prisons and probationary/parole services. The world wants reality TV - folks, this is reality! Thoughts...

Yes, it is that black and white! It was clearly presented to the Apostles, the 1st century Church, as it is today by the Holy Spirit. SaintSatan is quite accurate when he stated that John 6 should be read just as it is. The Scriptures were written as plain as the nose on our face from Genesis through Revelation. Yes, he will come as he departed. Yes, he will be seen. Yes, the Revelation's prophecies will be fulfilled in a literal fashion, not like the writings of Brooklyn, where it is taught that the bowls are tracts, the plagues are books, and the 1260 days revolve around the WTS' involvement in anti-sedition activities, their jailing, and the Cedar Points convention (what rubbish!). Just wait until the two prophets are killed and are raised up! Then again, someone on the GB will have a revelation that this too is from Satan.

For some people it is a long journey, and then there are family members to think about as well. So, in that regard, as well as some of the things I have seen, I understand where you are coming from. No RazorBlade, this man would have taken my statement tonight as a tribute - we studied Greek together for 5 years, as I was translating the scriptures with him, as well as doing the minor prophets in Hebrew. Not everyone is afraid to reveal their relaity: you should check me out on mp3 with my band - some of us are proud of what we believe and how we care not to be ruled by any man, controlled by demon spirits. There is too much paranoia, as the man at the Toronto meetup who wore a mask. Made in the "image of God", "perfect Love casts out all fear." I understand the fears, and the mushmouths; yet, when is a man/woman gonna stand up on their own two feet before Christ, God, and the Cosmos. Forget political/spiritual/organizational correctness, look what that has done! Look at our friends. Many of mine are dead and here, and a few passed over miserable. It is time to speak, and speak loudly (not libel), and then even speak LOUDER! Rayzorblade- The last time I saw him he was with the Charismatics in Delaware, then he cracked up and was institutionalized. Went to the State Hospital with A.T. Robertson's Greek N.T. research books, and from what my first wife said, after she did as much research 10 years ago to find him for me - he passed away a very sad and lonely man, pioneer card in his briefcase and still wondering about the Lord. I would never have said his name otherwise. Thankyou, we must have respect - but once in Sheol, there is only the future.
