Who leaves first, the husband or wife?
by snugglebunny inwhen it comes to a simple matter of no longer believing the teachings of jw's, it appears to me that it's more common for the husband to make the first move to leave the religion.

Goddamned velocipedestriennes anyway.
From the author of the above-linked comic:
Happy New Year everyone!
Just playing around with drawing pictures.
The greatest thing about the invention of the bicycle and ladies starting to ride them is: everything. The clothes! The bikes! The attitude! But perhaps especially: the scads of satirical cartoons made at the time that were supposed to make women look shocking and inappropriate but just makes them look super stylish and badass instead. I just can't get over the cigarette in the cartoon I used though, and the splayed legs as she rumbles willy-nilly down the street. God, is there anything better than cartoons?
Incidentally, 'velocipedestrienne,' not a word I made up. You're looking for page 89 of this very informative contemporary read. I enjoyed the chapter very much. You would not believe how many words they manage to birth out of the word 'velocipede' in that book. If you notice the date you'll see that I stuck a phonograph in the cartoon about ten years too early and well that is just because I can do what I like around here. -

In the end, it is their choice to shun me based on my decision to make it clear that I was no longer a JW, not mine. DA is simply making a statement I am no longer JW. "Playing by their rules" is choosing to treat a person who did so according to WTS edict.
When they announce a person as 'disassociated' they make no specific difference between that and disfellowshipping. The dishonesty all around is on the watchtower leadership, every goddamned time.
Me? I DA'd. People at the hall still tell my husband that they said hello and want to go out for coffee or what-not.
^ That is not the norm. My thinking is they're trying to appease my husband in some way.
In fact, when i wasn't attending meetings prior to my DA letter, they didn't call or come around to the house whatsoever. <-- THAT is the norm.
If you don't attend meetings, that is a "sign" of your spiritual state. What a load of hooey-manure, as Bugs Bunny would say.
In my opinion, it doesn't matter if you DA or not. If you don't slave away for the so-called "SLAVE" (aka leadership, the true publishers, and all their enforcers down the chain of command), then they will shun you anyway.

In my family, I left first (wife). Husband is still in, but I think he's finally catching on; he's missing a lot of meetings and has missed 'field serve-us' (didn't report any activity for whole month) at least 3 times in the past 6 months. Here's to hoping.
The woman I initially studied with left (officially DA'd, letter to elders and all) about a decade or more ago, along with all her children. Her husband remarried and is still 'in'.
Wife - 2
Husband (s) - 0

NAILING DOWN the fraud of John 1:1 by demonstration
by TerryWalstrom incall me crazy, but i love to watch seminary classes when sharp teachers are in charge of the instruction.. in the following video, the teacher really nails jehovah's witnesses on john 1:1 with utter simplicity.. begin at 1 hour and 20 minutes in.. i've never seen or heard of this before.. .

Pope thinks hitting children is "Beautiful"
by cofty inone time, i heard a father in a meeting with married couples say `i sometimes have to smack my children a bit, but never in the face so as to not humiliate them.how beautiful!
he knows the sense of dignity!
he has to punish them but does it justly and moves on.

Beating a person who is pleading with you not to do it? Repeatedly hitting them over and over and over...
The beatings do damage, too. The fact that the parent (spouse, what-not) ignores the pleas is equally and possibly more damaging, imo.
My parents had the habit of beating us with wooden bamboo canes. The offense to warrant such whippings? Missed a phone call (older sisters boyfriend, of all things), and/or didn't remember to write down the message or the callers name. Or they can't find something they (either parent) have been trying to find for whole minutes of their very important lives.
Perhaps that young girl in the video would not have posted up nude pictures of herself to facebook if some caring adult in her life had taken the time to actually talk and teach her how and why doing it is so wrong and damaging.
People are people.
And abuse is abuse. As is neglect.

When they start giving KH attendance stats around the 8 minute mark, they don't actually discuss wear and tear of any given buildings. They only proclaim numbers of congregations in attendance in each hall and that 4 and 5 congs attending the same hall means a dire need.
First thing that popped to mind? The board game, "monopoly". The more buildings you have, the more properties you own-- especially ones where more people are likely to land-- the more money you will make.
How many people sharing a hall snap their respective wallets shut when there are 4 other congregations to help spread out the payment load?
Honestly, the real estate scams that happened in Spain and Guadalajara, and the closures of BRANCHES in Ireland, New Zealand, and Norway, should be announced right along with the rest of the blather regarding "growth" in any of their one-sided diatribes given from any podium during these spiels.
Guadalajara (mentions Spain's debacle on page 3, including how locals paid for everything themselves with no help from Crooklyn, but when building and equipment were sold, all monies funneled to Brooklyn, NY, USA headquarters and benefited no one and nothing locally in Spain):
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/278950/misappropriation-funds-project-assembly-hall-guadalajara?size=20&page=1Branch closure: New Zealand (there arementions of Ireland and Norway branches, too):
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/227870/sale-branch-hq-new-zealand?page=1&size=20The watchtower leadership are pressing all the wrong buttons with these wacky-ass building ideas (charging 7k to 17k for one or two day assembly hall day meetings, justified through a ghost "deficit"; smash and grab all funds held at local level; etc.). They are waking people up with this BS.

point of the call: was it either to give a message or press for information?
I think Cedars managed to deliver a message. As konceptual99 demonstrated above, I doubt you are gonna get any doctrinal/organizational rules type answers from any gov-bod member except, " ask your local elders (so they can punish you)". I highly doubt any member of the F&DS are gonna invite personal letter writing
