As I said earlier today in a different discussion, Christians aren't well known for knowing well the Bible.

Are you religious or are you spiritual? Wake up to what?
by Deltawave inthere is a huge difference between been religious and been spiritual.
been religious is about been superior to others in the sight of god.
however, been spiritual is about self awareness, inner peace and unity with the natural world.

Frightened off is the wrong word but made cautious by the perceived bitterness of some members yes.
You came here preaching your version of the truth like so many others and it just happened to be the exact teachings of another cult and you just happened to pick a user name associated with that cult.
What you perceive as bitterness is everyone being tired of the same of retread of people coming to to recruit for yet another wacky religion (exactly what you are recruiting for despite your protestations) and claiming have it all right.

- Clean living
They neither have nor promote any of those things.

Why I remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Brother Jeramy inallow me to begin with a clarification: when i say i am one of jehovah's witnesses, i don't mean that i am an advocate of the watchtower society or a devotee of some of its more controversial false teachings.
i mean that i am a christian, a disciple of jesus christ dedicated to jehovah god, and who remains in union with my brothers and sisters who make up the family of faith that globally refers to itself as jehovah's witnesses.
some totally understand the distinction between the family of brothers and sisters and the corporate organization known as the watchtower society (wts).

Then, instead of responding, "Well, I can see how that came across. It wasn't my intention." You respond with, "I'll not be responding to...you from here on out...."
Taking his ball and going home because everyone didn't agree with him and his illogical position was challenged. It's the Christian way.

I've said my piece, you've each said yours. There will clearly be no agreement, which is obviously fine, but there's an obvious descending spiral in the things each of you are writing that approaches the level of obsession "with arguments and debates about words. These things give rise to envy, strife, slander, wicked suspicions, constant disputes" and are at best nothing more than "fights about words, something of no usefulness at all."
Uh, yeah, because you are contradicting yourself with every post and being extremely negative.
Words have meanings. If you cannot be clear in what you write as to your meaning or it appears you do not understand the words you are using, then I have no idea how you hope to communicate.
If, in the future, you wish to avoid discussions about your meanings, I suggest you write clearly and in an understandable manner. In short, take your own advice.

For starters, what I wrote wasn't ad hominem. I was identifying the nature of Viviane's statements, not casting any aspersions on her character.
Except you actually used words that describe character and personality traits.
Seriously, do you even understand the words you use?

The Real Problem is those Other JWs
Exactly. BJ is the negative one. Just like other Christians who think they preach love by threatening death, he truly doesn't even understand the things he is saying or the words he is using.

Thanks for demonstrating my point about the pathological negativity and spiteful generalizations many exhibit on this forum.
Negative? Please say where I said one thing negative. I was extremely specific and pointed out reality. If your reality is negative, that's you creating it and your problem, not the forum's.

my understanding was that this was an open forum where former as well as active Witnesses can share their views and engage in discussions. Instead, it appears that only one prevailing viewpoint is permitted here by mass default. Deviation from that viewpoint invites a barrage of antipathy.
Since you have not been banned, it would seem the issue is that you don't understand what's in bold above....
in spite of my dissidence, does not make me complicit
You preach what you know to be a lie. You are 100% complicit.Any more than my being a tax-paying American citizen makes me complicit in the wrongful deaths of innocent thousands at the hands of the U.S. military over the past thirteen years; other similar examples abound.
You choose to remain part of and preach on behalf of a family destroying, pedophile protecting and family destroying organization even though you know better. It makes you very responsible.

And so I simply wanted to share my views on why I remain as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I did so rationally and respectfully. No agenda. Just . . . sharing.
You're evangelizing for a particular point of view, yours, and your secret JW-but-not-JW religion-within-a-religion you have going on.
At least be honest.
