The Confederate Flag

the latest controversy over the confederate flag just sums up to me the state of dysfunction that exists in american society.. in summary: a white supremacist nutter shoots 9 black people dead in a church.

he's clearly inspired by the messages of others which the confederate flag is often a symbol of.. it seems like a no-brainer to remove it.

not only isn't it removed, it isn't even lowered at all as a mark of respect.. and of course now there are the people who want to defend their right to have it.

When I see someone flying the confederate flag I am thankful that we have the freedom to do so, even if it means that others might be offended. I don't prejudge them as stupid.

Being thankful for freedoms, not offended and knowing someone is stupid are not mutually exclusive. I have, with my own eyes, seen a confederate flag flown next to a picture of a lynching. I personally hear people make comments about the war of northern aggression and how everything was fine before the war.

When I see someone flying the flag, I absolutely know everything I need to about that person.

(some have been fatal) from watching/reading the mainstream news media.- gotta love that plague word- it's great

Read a book, and find the fundamentals of the KKK. It was enhanced by Nazi idealist and they continue that trait today, but Viviane you are pointless. I wont waste anymore of my time with arrogance. Just as slavery was brought into the conversation.

I've read many books. The KKK existed long before Hitler was born. Hitler did not and could have started the ideologies of the KKK. Just because that is true and you got called out on it is no reason for you to take your ball and go home or start calling names.

The Bible is NOT Error-Free

for many christians, the bible is viewed as the 100% error-free, perfect book straight from god, where every single word was carefully chosen by god for a reason.

but, usually, when you have a discussion on the topic, these christians will end up saying that only the original copies written directly from the hands of the prophets and apostles were error-free, and all manuscript copies since then are subject to copyist mistakes and other errors.. since zero original copies are in existence, how do we know the originals were error-free?

why should we think the originals should be error-free to begin with?

But, you've several times in this thread praised him and attempted to denigrate me personally Your posts make it clear that gender is a reason you feel particularly threatened and last out at me, in particular.

We've got FT on the one had pretending the Bible preaches morality for all and you endorsing a pro-rape, pro-slavery moral code while attempting to denigrate and mitigate someone because of their gender.

That's what it has to do with it, Fisherman. It's a shining example of how that second rate moral code enables you to feel justified in lashing out at you do. Your moral code would have me be a second class citizen and you, without even realizing it (I hope), are following right along.

So if I’m reading this right, only America is dysfunctional.

Simon didn't say that, so no, you aren't reading it right.

I believe the person that committed this horrible crime stands only with the K.K.K. ideology that was started by Adolf Hitler on wanting to make a master white race.

The KKK existed long before Hitler was born, so no, not right.

Also the first slavers in American soil were the Native Americans after the 13 colonies settled in, not the African Race that was forced into slavery 100 hundred years later.

Which has exactly nothing to do with any of this, so pointless.

Well, it can't be banned due to freedom of speech. But, on the bright side, anytime I see someone flying, I know that I already know everything I need to know about that person.
